I'm 23 years old, turning 24 next month. I've been living in Boston for quite some time now and I can't stand the weather, people, and job market. I'm a warehouse worker right now but I want to become an animal worker. I also LOVE the beach as well as the bars and nightclubs around Florida. In Boston I'm not a club guy but in Florida I was killing it on my last vacation. I don't have my drivers license yet but I'll certainly work towards getting it and a car since I know how spread out everything is. I like southern Florida over northern as I heard that the winters could be quite cold up north. I've been told that I should consider living on the Islsnd near WPB but what are your suggestions? Can't be too expensive needs to be under a thousand for sure.

What do you mean by animal worker?

If your experience is in warehouse work the places in Florida that would work would Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville the larger port cities.

Remember living someplace is not like being on vacation. South Florida is more expensive and closer to the beach, nightlife etc is generally more expensive. Consider also that wages are generally lower than in Boston area.

As in working witglh animals, whether it be pets or exotics, also I've noticed that the nightlife is significantly more cheaper in WPB, Orlando, and Stuart than it is in Boston. I don't know about the job narket though.

if working in a pet store or a warehouse you will probably be making minimum wage,after housing and living expenses are factored in combined with no car you wont be much of a player in the nightlife scene.

Any "animal working" will have a degree in biology or animal sciences and such. There don't just let people go into the zoos and work. Pay for your skill in Fla will be close to minimum wage and any place worth living (Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale) will be extremely expensive. You won't be "killing it" at any bar because you'll be working 70 hours a week to be able to afford your 1 bedroom $1400 studio. IMO though if I HAD to choose a city it would be Tampa. Miami in general is a dump and congested to all hell. Gulf Coast is preferable to East Coast. Good luck thinking that living here is anything close to being on vacation here. Locals don't hardly use the beach as much as you think because they're filled with tourists half the year and the rest is 100+ degrees and we can't be bothered to be in that kind of miserable heat. I've lived here 30+ years and been to the beach a handful of times. The most recent was over a year ago, and I live less than 3 miles to it.

Does no one in this place factor in heat index? I know they factor that in up north but there seems to be some kind of denial in this state that it exists. I know in NH I certainly dressed for days it was -22 because it FELT like -22. We have MANY days here in the summer of 100+ heat index. No one cares about what the average temp is, they care about what it feels like. If the heat index is this high then its OVER 100 that day.

Different people feel different things. Temperature and heat index are two totally different means of measuring the climate at any given time.

Why not start in Orlando? You have all sorts of animal parks as well as warehousing, etc. job opportunities.
