Instead of surveys I prefer to use studies done by reputable sources. For automobile stats I like AAA, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, FL Department of Transportation and others.

Your statement is untrue, without any fact to back it up and erroneous.
There are two statements "Worst Drivers" & "Road Rage", Florida overall has the worst drivers, based on the study done below.

Seeing our car insurance was over $300/month in West Palm Beach for two average cars and here in San Diego County the cost dropped to $80/month doesn't surprise me.

You'll get no argument from me about Florida having terrible drivers. The things is, MOST of those drivers are from somewhere else! But it is one of the few downsides here. As far as road rage, I have only observed that to any degree in Miami.

I was never denying that Fla is a transient state. My only point is population growth has been steady and increasing.

The key drivers of new housing are: population growth/household formation and employment growth. Fla has not been lacking in population growth...

Road Rage exists outside of Miami, you can expect it most anywhere in SoFla from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach County.

Population growth is a double edge sword, not always a positive.

However, when someone says "The traffic in Florida is terrible", I would strongly disagree because that is not an accurate statement.

I do not live in "fantasy land" but I live in one of the many areas throughout FL where most people still live in a civilized way and treat others the way they would want to be treated. The outrageous situations I read about here in every aspect of daily life in certain places is amazing to me.

Spring Hill has to be at least 50 percent populated by people from the NE and that is probably a very conservative figure. Its probably 50 percent NYC area alone. However, the outrageous situations I see reported here do not happen and the outrageous people are a rare sight. Here you could not single out a NE transplant from one from Iowa.

I drive in and around Tampa several times a week. I know what congested traffic is about. Afterall, I grew up in NYC. When I do drive around the Tampa area I always say to myself "I could not do this everyday" and a feeling of serenity overcomes me once I am on the Suncoast Expressway a few miles north of SR 54.
It is great that you live in an area that doesn't have those things. However, a majority of people on here do live in those areas and that is "real" Florida. But at least you are able to acknowledge that these things do go on.

A lot of places have lousy drivers but to say the entire state (any state) has lousy drivers is a bit over the top. We insure 2 cars and its just under $1,000 a year. Auto insurance rates are highly dependent on the population density. More people = more cars = higher risk factors = higher premiums. It certainly does not help that 25% of drivers do not carry insurance. Add tourists and mix in people from different parts of the world and you come up with a hot mess on the roadways. The closer you are to a large metro area the higher insurance costs. However, non-large metro areas greatly out number large metro areas.

I feel that life in FL varies greatly by where you choose to be.

That's what the data states based on key metrics, not my study but it represents our experience living in SoFLa, since around the late 90's onward.

So you are still not in agreement? Then take up your claims again the people who did the study.

I do agree the densely populated areas have traffic problems which tend to make some people to loose their composure and drive aggressively because they have to be first at the next red light, hey I see nut jobs behind the wheel. Its just that in less densely populated areas the incidents of aggressive driving and road rage greatly decline. People who dont know what a turn signal is, who are not sure about the right of way concept, drive at speeds well below the speed limit in the left lane, who dont yield to emergency vehicles, turn in front of oncoming traffic, need to be first at a red light, speed, drive distracted are everywhere but certainly more common in densely populated areas just based on the differences in the odds.

What took you 30 years to figure out you had all these complaints?

Ok. I gotcha.

And I agree with what you said above.
