Good luck on your move back, hope you get to do it soon since you don't like Florida. We don't want your here either if you dislike the state.

There certainly is something going on. In my community houses are starting to sell quickly for what I consider high prices.

And yes, I've notice people from New Yorker and New Jersey buying here. JMHO

I came to the conclusion that it is a love or hate situation living in Florida. Lived there for 6 months in my 20's and moved back up North. Husband got a job there in his 50s and we lived there for 10 years. Could not take the heat and humidity in my 20's let alone later in life.

Used to plan trips visiting my family up North in Fall and Winter. People thought I was crazy. WINTER? I had to get out from year round Summer. When husband retired, we moved back, and to the MOUNTAINS where we get feet of snow and actual temps can get below 0.

As people have said, to each his own, but it is a MYTH that when you get old your cannot take the cold. I couldn't take heat when young and couldn't take when old.

Enjoy life wherever it suits you.

There is an exodus from NYC, in particular Manhattan, with very expensive housing, and nothing to do with so much closed down there. We get a lot of NY/NJ vacationers here as well. July 4th Weekend was crazy. Yes, we did and still do see Florida plates here. Probably visiting relatives as we did? Complying with the 14 day quarantine here?

Our real estate here is booming as well. Homes selling like hot cakes and new construction going up. Cannot say NY/NJ people are escaping the weather, but maybe the 2 C's, COLA and COVID?

Yes, strange for people from up North going to Florida not in Season, but these are strange times we now live in anyway.

Definitely not the only one. We will never, ever live outside of Florida. It's by far the best place to live in the world.
