Hi, I'm moving to Florida next year. I must curious if bottled water is subject to sales tax in Florida ? If I was to buy a case of Zephyrills bottled water for $4.00, am I only paying $4.00??

Case=no tax as long as off the shelf and not refrigerated. Refrigerated case may have tax but not sure. If you take a single bottle out of the cooler it is taxed.

No sales tax but because the water is in a plastic container you may have to pay the recycle plastic fee. [even though your community already has, and you're paying for, plastic recycle with trash pick up]

Only type of foods that are taxes are prepared foods. Such as a bag of chips or food you buy in a restaurant.
Raw commodities, such as meat or vegetables are not taxed. A case of water falls under this category, and is not taxed. If it says $4.00 it is $4.00

I don't think a bag of chips is taxed either. A rotisserie chicken from Publix which is actual food is taxed though.

Go figure!

I could be wrong on the chips, i just know the general rule.

The potatoe chip lobby must be stronger than I thought! LOL

At the deli section- all food in frig section- no sales tax. Move a few feet to the right and have someone make a sandwich, sales tax. All food in the hot trays, sales tax. Rotisserie chicken, sales tax [prepared food]
