Have you ever visited Key West? If yes, what are your thoughts?

You might want to look a little closer:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaura...s_Florida.html , that's the problem of visiting a place with rose colored glasses (or beer goggles) on. Did you also notice every square milimeter of old town is spoken for? Spaces in between the spaces are spoken for. As starfishKey has tried to tell you, it's a small town that has unique "rules", if you won't or can't play, your business won't be open for long and don't think you'll become a beach bum because homelessness is illegal in Key West.

Key West is very expensive to live, even visiting is expensive. Good luck paying high taxes and insurance on your business. Lots of businesses down there open up then shut down a few months later. Key West is a very business unfriendly place, that's why there's hardly chain places there. A lot of people down there work two or three jobs to live. Rent is a thousand a month minimum for an apartment the size of a shoe box. I don't know what the city does with all the tax money cause the city is a dump. People down there have been trying to get an Olive Garden down forever with no luck. There are a few locally owned Italian places but they are expensive.

Duetto and La Trattoria are perhaps the only Italians. For me the Italian restaurants are those run by Italians, not Americans, Mexican, Puerto Ricans etc. Maybe that some restaurant I haven't seen!!

in local keys vernacular you have a two types of conch. you are either a saltwater or freshwater conch. a saltwater conch is a person native to the keys or keywest born and raised in the keys. a freshwater conch is a non native who has been residing in the keys for a minimum of 7 years some say 10 years before they can call themselves "freshwater" conch homelessness is not illegal in key west. its illegal to sleep or drink in public or on the beach. key west has a great homeless shelter called KOTS. keys overnight temporary shelter. you can sleep and shower and even get help looking for a job

there's a sticky thread on this forum about the trouble with Key West - I'd look at it if I were you.....I'd be very skeptical about starting a business venture there
