Interesting you would complain about NY and NJ. Where do you live?

When I lived in Sarasota for a number of years I noticed that all the mid-westerners, who are the majority there, brought their conservative politics (and religion) with them. All of a sudden--surrounded by people who loved Bush/Cheney, supported the Iraq War bigly.

Found it extremely annoying and oppressive. Bunch of control freaks.

That's pretty much California in a nut shell. They had a proposition to require porn stars to wear condoms lol. And they have banned plastic bags in many locales. Very Nanny state with high taxes

That guy lives in a land of his own. Have you seen his posts?

I don't mind people bringing their politics w/ them. As for the conservatives bringing their ideas to Florida, it's way too late to complain about that! Mario Rubio, Gov Scott, Pam Bondi....could it get any more right wing?

If not for St Pete I would have had to move a ling time ago from Florida, and it's a perfect example of people coming w/ their own politics that changed this city from a retirement suburb of Tampa into the thriving liberal place that it is. That is changing, the 1%ers are coming and swinging it more toward TrumpTown, but that's how it goes. Look at how the new people changed Denver! All that will probably be brought to a screaming halt though w/ this new Attorney General coming in, who is a lunatic and wants to eliminate all pot from the land.

It's a Brave New World, we have a LOT bigger things to deal w/ than a bunch of conservative Yankees moving to Florida.

If you moved to California would you change your politics? That's why.

Remember that if it wasn't for the diverse group of people who have moved down here over the years, the state would be another Mississippi, and who wants to live in the pit that is Mississippi? Or south Georgia (had kin who lived for a time in Albany, and man, that place is a mess) or Alabama, which still has a very high percentage of people who thinks white and black shouldn't be allowed to marry each other.

Given that there are over 350K people moving to Florida each year, there is a much greater opportunity in Florida to hear "how things are or how we used to do things where we're from."

It's only human nature, not politics - and only more noticeable because of the higher percentage of northern transplants. A good response is, "If things were so much better where you were, why did you move here?"
