Hi everyone,
Moving from NYC to Florida and I don't know much about the place, aside from the fact that it's absolutely beautiful, warm, and close to home. I've visited Miami, Orlando and Ft. Laud, but this is the kind of energy I'm looking for, in a nutshell. Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I know there are hidden pockets of this combo all around the state.. Hoping someone could help out
Family oriented, Arts, Diversity, Beaches, Good schools, Affordable Homes(like St. Pete's)
General vibe - free thinkers, creatives, etc
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks so much!

Housing budget? Kids? Spouse? Employment?

We need more information.

Why do you want to move?

Why does the OP want to move?

From NYC of course. It's in their genetic makeup.
Work hard, save their pennies for someday, then head on down to live in "paradise".

lol. I've lived in quite a few paradise and non-paradise places, Florida is next on the list. It's warm and very close to home, diverse and beautiful. A simple sunny house, under 200K would be perfect. Art, culture, family, diversity, beach.. Key words. Maybe it's not something to look for via forums.. Maybe it's one of those things I'd have to go and feel out myself, you know? But I do appreciate all suggestions very much.

As a former New Yorker, there are only three areas I know New Yorkers go to

-Orlando
-Miami
-Broward/Palm Beach County

What you seem to want is in Broward County. You have affordable homes, nice beaches, and it's actually the most diverse county in Florida but more importantly you can drive down to Miami.

Just a warning, Broward county seems to be more dangerous (to me) than either Miami and especially Palm Beach County. So make sure you visit the area.

You won't find all of these for that price. You have to focus more specifically on what you want ... and look at housing prices.

I hope the OP has saved a whole bunch of pennies, because it isn't cheap to live in nice places in Florida, contrary to the common stereotype.
