Hi Everyone!, I am looking for some updated (2016-2017) info on the best places to retire in Florida. I would love to hear about what places people retired to in Florida and if they are happy with their choice. Thanks in advance for taking the time to share your experiences.

So far so good; my husband retired in June of last year (I am still working but work out of the house). We had talked of retiring in Gainesville and circumstances fell into place last year to do just that. Cheaper cost of living overall than South Florida, where we lived before. I also love the slower pace and that there's more of a change in seasons. Plus, due to the university, health care, dental and veterinary services are phenomenal. Good luck!

Yes ,Yes and a big yes ...retired in 2011 and moved to Port Saint Lucie .Bought a 3/2.5/2 car garage in a nice community 15 minutes to the ocean . Walking /biking paths around lakes and parks. Every possible resturant and store within a short Drive , most medical services close by and all take my insurance. Made some nice friends here as well..golf, fish, walk, bike, kayak , beach , boating , many parks , watch Dolphins ,manatees all close by ..Perfect ? No but very happy

Moved here 32 years ago when I-75 first opened and less than 120,000 people in the county, now retired. There is a net gain of 900 people a day moving to Florida for the last 32 years. Not as nice as it use to be but still runs circles around previous home of NYC.

hey dothe twist! I have been looking for a small town to investigate for snowbirding. I really liked venice, Bradenton has very nice people & lots to do but it is WAY too big for me. Don't need to be next to the water, within 1/2 hour is good. Why do you like Gulfport?
Thank you! linda y
