I also think $$$ is a reason too. The state imo makes a lot on permits. Other states such as Alabama and Georgia the ccw permits are dirt cheap so cost isn't an excuse why they cost so much. Also the ccw instructors lose money too on it which is why they're against it and the NRA which trains instructors makes money from it too. Some of the instructors in Missouri whined about constitutional carry saying they would lose money if it passed. Same with the sheriffs who charged the $100 max amount allowed were making money from ccw permits as well. Tough sh**. The constitution doesn't say anything about taxing the right to bear arms.

Imagine trying to do a poll tax again on voting.
So the judges let them off easy and they're repeat offenders but you want to get rid of a waiting period used to find out exactly this, right? Why not just put gun vending machines in gas stations?

Most states don't have waiting periods. Why not a waiting period to buy a bat, or steak knives, or a pressure cooker that can be used to make a bomb?

Really? Well what is the intent of a bat? or a steak knife or a pressure cooker ? Then ask yourself what is the intent of a gun ?
Pretty self explanatory.

I don't see a problem with Florida's gun laws, I moved out of NY where possession of a factory Glock magazine, an AR SKS or AK platform is a felony worse than that of a child molester. Was denied 3 times for concealed carry permit as well. Didn't have a good enough reason I suppose carrying over 10k dollars in a bank bag, hiking in the Adirondacks with bears and collecting rent in areas of high crime and low police presence weren't good enough reasons...

I like the fact it requires a permit, it takes months for the background check 3 to be exact. They are thorough too. I like the disqualifiers too, such as domestic violence bans you from it, DWI etc. That 10-20-life one is a good deterrent.

Loving the Gunshine state.

So you don't like the idea of permit less carry?

Alabama might be the next ones to adopt it. It passed the Alabama senate. With nearby AL and MS with it maybe it would pressure Florida to pass it. Hope so because a democrat governor won't sign it.

AK, ID, WY, AZ, MO, MS, KS, WV, VT, ND, ME all have unlicensed concealed carry. So far it has caused no issues. In Kansas who passed it in 2015 law enforcement has said there hasn't been any issues with it.

If you can legally possess a firearm I don't see the reason you have to get a permit to get permission to carry.

If one wants to carry an AK or AR they should be able to. The 2nd amendment doesn't state what firearms you can and can't carry.

Except when compared to many of the pro gun states currently, our laws don't even come close to those like Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, West Virginia. Even Texas which doesn't have constitutional carry their laws overall are much better than ours. The Brady foundation's new rankings have Florida in the middle of the pack and losing ground as other states pass permit less carry.

Kansas, Mississippi, and Missouri, Arizona are at the bottom. Florida needs to be within those ranks.

Permit less carry I'm fine with. To get the permit though, an extensive background check is performed to ensure that a person who is: deranged with homicidal thoughts, a history of violence, a career criminal, or utterly irresponsible isn't getting their hands on guns. That ensures only those who legally can, legally do... it's much more thorough than the NICS background check...

I'd rather the NFA repealed completely though.

As for carrying anything. I have no issues either way with concealed or open, but remember, we have too many who are sensitive and traumatized by those evil looking AKs and ARs... they would be calling the police should you have a rifle on a sling in public...
