I filled up my rental car before returning to the Orlando International Airport and the price of gas was nearly $6 / gal. I was shocked by this. Why was it so expensive?

Maybe they meant to put a different price because West Texas Intermediate is cheap right now.

It's called fleecing. Sorry, but there were other choices. That was an obvious rip-off. Did you go to the top priced one on this list?

Don't go to that gas station,99% of gas stations are $2.05-$2.15 for regular,do people really just see a station and pull in without looking at the price??There's a few gas stations in the tourist area that are always overpriced, there's the one on 535 by I-4 that's always $2.99 and there's the Shell on Vineland thats always $5.99,I have no clue why anybody wants to spend 3x as much to put gas.I assume some by the airport might also be doing this, there's a website called gasbuddy, just use it to check gas prices in the area.My closest station is a 7-11 that charges normal prices but I prefer to drive to a WAWA and instead of paying $2.12 pay $2.03.

Certain gas stations will gouge you on price because of where they are. As others have pointed out, gas near airports is outrageously high because car rental companies want renters to return the car with a "full" tank. The renters often do not realize that they can fill up many miles away from the airport with the tank still saying "full". Perhaps being from out of town, they don't know where other gas station options are. 5.99 is outrageous! Unless you're driving a large truck or SUV, you should be able to fill up (to the top) and drive another 15-20 miles (give or take) before the "full" tank drops down a notch. I drive a small car and can drive nearly forty miles before it indicates less than full.

Similarly, gas stations near the interstates can get a little pricey, since the travelers are often unfamiliar with the area and don't want to depart too much from the highway to refuel. I've seen gas ten cents higher at interstate stops than stations only a few miles away.

Don't go to gas stations near the International Airport or next to Disney property. They will jack you.

Near Disney for the most part the prices are fine, even the three Speedway stations inside Disney property charge normal prices. Its only a couple of stations that are doing the gouging. If you did pay like $6 a gallon it must have been at that Shell on Vineland near the outlets as that's the only station that I see showing anything near $6,that's gotta be one of the most expensive stations not just in Florida but probably the country, even around the Orlando International airport the prices are around $2.
