As a native and long time resident it seems the past couple years has provided a noticeable lack of sunshine compared to prior years, so this morning I did a quick check of the weather almanac in my zip code (Central Florida) since January 1st of this year. Of the 210 days give or take a day, 110 are listed as "overcast" meaning slightly better than 50% were "cloudy days" with minimal sunshine. When one takes into consideration Seattle's sunny days quota is around 47%, one can see where the Sunshine State tag seems a bit skewed!

Right now, that's OK with me.

For awhile perhaps, but if the "new normal" with climate change it could be an issue.

Not that I'll be in FL much longer (thank deity of choice), but I'd rather have more cloudy days especially in summer. Brutal humidity coupled with sun beating down makes me want to hibernate. So sick of it.

Well, I moved here Central Florida coast, last May and we thought then it never rained in Florida...This year, it seems a lot of rain has fallen. However, even most days that rain, part of the day is sunny.

That tends to be more consistent right on the coast, the interior sections often take a good bit longer to see cloud cover burn off.

I will have to agree with Kyle here. I have been here for 15 years. This trend is rather terrible. It's overcast all day.

We have many more days of higher sunshine %'s than we did in the 70's and 80's. We no longer have winters with cloudy days compared to 30+ years ago. Most of my days in the summer are 100% sunshine and no rain thanks to a reverse west windflow that keeps the rain and clouds about 4 to 15 miles to my east from June to Oct.

I am in my 60s and grew up in Florida. It pretty much seems as sunny as ever to me. Sure, in the summer we sometimes get days or even a couple weeks where it is overcast or rains a lot, but usually even on rainy days the sun shines for part of the day. Still the "Sunshine State" to me.
