Greetings:

In the process of selling home in Kissimmee, FL, considering move to Syracuse, NY.
Originally from New York, desiring to relocate to Syracuse, NY area.

Please advise on good neighborhoods, cultural environment and transportation. Initially, considering renting until I purchase a home.

Best advice we can offer is that you relocate your questions to the NY/Syracuse forums.

Be sure to purchase a strong snowblower, 4-wheel vehicle, and get ready to pay some hefty taxes.....nice summers though.

It's cold and lots of snow... Crime is high, and summers are nice but short .....I agree with BucFan.

Funny...since I flew to Syr from Orlando often...haha...but never in winter again!
I did notice there was a bit of crime there...but Syr is a great city...lots going on
and all the suburbs. Not as much sun as I'm used to.
I will never be going there again...since my sister there is moving in with me soon in CO...love that small Hancock airport!
Yup, post in the Syr section for lots of help.

Kissimmee has a bit of crime also. I don't think they're is a city that doesn't have crime.

Don't be fooled. Florida is not the utopia they make it out to be. Wages are low, summers are horribly hot and humid. Large insects, snakes, bear, wild boar, lizards, raccoons etc. red ants that bite. Alligators in every lake. Hurricanes and sink holes. Culturally bankrupt. I am used to a faster pace. I grew up playing in the snow. Miss the vibrancy of the Northeastern states. Yes, there is crime everywhere. I guess you just have to pick your poison when it comes to living accommodations.
