thanks Kyle19125 - The Tampa area was something I was going to look into also. Tampa and Jacksonville seem to cater to my line of work. I don't have an issue with the right - just the ones defending the one currently leading it. Sorry....I just can't.

No apology necessary, me either!

Given you're already financially strapped in Richmond which is about on par with SE Florida in terms of housing, you might look at Tampa Bay suburbs like Oldsmar, Safety Harbor, East Lake and Palm Harbor which have a significant population of NE transplants and easy access to three school districts for work (Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco) along with more reasonable rental housing values.
I don't know why he is saying this. Almost all the folks I work with live in the Jacksonville area and I don't know any rebublicans from work. I am in the IT field where there are few conservatives. Education should also be majority Democrats and liberals.

Perhaps Kyle hangs around car salesmen, biker bars and lawyers which may skew is view of an area.

Im laughing at TB2727, I feel the same way, not crazy about Richmond, just not happy here, I am from NJ and think Florida is way better certain parts of course, better more comfortable lifestyle especially on the West coast of Florida. I have been in Richmond, and don't like all the traveling involved to get anywhere.

I would recommend Glen Allen West Side suburb or Midlothian/chesterfield on the south side only, the rest of Richmond has some very questiionable areas. I am trying to decide where to go next to find friendly people.

Yes, as a gay white male you definitely nailed my demographic. While Jacksonville has deservedly shed it's reputation as one of the most conservative cities in the US for the OP who wants more of a NY/Northeast US connection, the Tampa Bay metro makes much more sense.
