Grow up. Lots of people will be very negatively affected by this storm. Your need to compare is pathetic.

Yeah. Thanks for the title, %$#^head. So meh as I try to figure out if my friends are alive and my house is still standing. So meh as I file insurance claims and live in mold, if I am so lucky. So meh to the people on Cudjoe Key.

You are absolutely right that there are other tragedies in the world, and a lot of suffering that should get more care and attention. I am more fortunate than Myanmar refugees, Syrians, Afghanis, etc. No person should wander the Earth trying to survive, and have every door shut in their face because no one cares if they live or die. I am in a less dire situation, and am grateful for anyone who has compassion or support to offer. So those people deserve love all the more so.

It is possible to make a dumb point and a good point in the same OP. Congrats on the dichotomy.

Tell that to people in the keys and Marco island... heck even Miami.

This will be way worse than charley in terms of monetary damages and persons affected.

Cuba took a decent hit for us, it was an nasty b*tch of a storm on the way in

" Stay safe " is really irritating virtue signalling.
If I hear one more presenter urging a reporter who has just stepped out of a hotel room onto their balcony to doing some shouting in the wind before stepping back inside between links to enjoy a refreshing beverage to stay safe I shall throw something at the TV.
Memo to CNN - a comfy berth in Tampa is NOT downtown Baghdad.
Stop flogging a dead horse.
When your weather presenter opines "Irma has not spared anyone in the state of Florida " she is becoming ridiculous.
Irma will impact some infrastructure in the state but it is not a killer here and it has not been catastrophic.
Instead Florida has been very very lucky.

We were fortunate in Central FL.

It appears the media was overly dramatic, that's for sure.

I know people in Brevard county who had to tornadoes rip through their neighbourhood and a roadway washed away.

Prob worse than Matthew, sucks to be on east side of a storm

I can't even read any objective news reports without getting riddled with "slams/hammering/battering/assualting florida", "ferocious winds, devastating", it's really ridiculous.

You read a news report about the hurricane and it's a collection of melodramatic verbs. Reporters must have a Websters dictionary in from of them in order to look for new synonyms for "devastation" - "hey harry, 'creating havoc' ...lets use those words in our report for the next hour." Then you have to read all through that crap to get the real facts - wind speed, direction, category...oh it's category 1 now. Thanks for the paragraph predicting death and destruction for what is now a minimal hurricane.

The TV news reporters are just silly, setting up shop in a hotel and venturing out once an hour in their rain gear to show winds and rain. The best one was posted in the weather forum here and shows a reporter enduring what she is trying to portray as death and devastation in her head-to-toe fancy NorthFace rain gear in I think it was Central Florida, seemingly struggling to even stand...and two guys walk by in shorts.

CNN Cuomo opened up like FL was ground zero at Hiroshima. Can't see it where I live in Tampa....maybe Miami/Ft Lauderdale got it (flood) and Naples/Port Charlotte lost electricity and water, but nothing close to what Cuomo is reporting.

Let's see if this works:

Oh I can't directly link. "As @CNN reporter explains how dangerous it is on the streets of Orlando, & how few people are out, 2 dudes run by in shorts & t-shirts."
