Will electric scooters be the choice mode of transportation in the state. With many areas with limited public transportation is this the correct choice?

The Vectrix is virtually silent as it makes its way down the road. You can travel between 40 and 60 miles per charge, and then all you have to do is plug it in, reaching a top speed of 62 miles per hour and cost just under $9,000.http://bestsmileys.com/stoplights/1.gif (broken link)http://bestsmileys.com/cars/20.gif (broken link)

9 grand?
Thats a little pricey. I had wanted to get something like that for my daughter to run around the neighborhood but not for that price.

We can drive golf carts in here as well, I would hope one of them would be cheaper.

The electric scooters are more expensive than the gas ones... Hopefully the demand will drive the cost down. This might be excellent for the environment, but I must agree is a bit expensive....

I'm all for moblilty and gas conservation, but adding scooter-lanes is probably cost prohibitative. This IS the US, where humongous SUVs rule.

I had been thinking of a scooter then saw the price for a Vespa and thought why bother with that when I could get an old model VW bug for around the same price.

It's too hot in Florida for scooters, unless someone is a laborer or tourist where appearance does not matter. I am hoping that my home algae fuel idea will alow me to drive a big Diesel pickup for long trips, and walk or mass-transit for the city excursions. Maybe scooter-friendly transit is the happy medium?

Too hot for scooters? Riding around feeling that nice breeze cannot be that bad. I guess you mean with the jackets. Well yea if you do not have some sort of coolant jacket then yes it would be too hot. But who the hell would ride around like that?

I love Florida and all but I would rather NOT drive around on a scooter in the rain AND we all know that rain comes up quickly.

we live in CT and last year my husband bought a scooter. he drives a ford f250 deisel. he took the scooter to work when he could.. its a half hour ride but it only takes about 5$ a week vs 50$ for less than 1/2 tank. he has been using again this spring and thank god we have it.. gas is almost $4.40 a gallon here. its been chilly in the mornings driving it but hes willing to be cold. it was only 50 degrees here this am and off he went at 6:30.
my hubby is 6ft and 200lbs... i did a priceless commercial for him.... he came home one day and said "got a light bulb for my scooter today, 2$, filled it with gas, 5$, and i said wayne on a scooter, "PRICELESS!"
i think we will be seeing alot of scooters and smart cars... when i was in bermuda 10 yrs ago. gas was over 5$ a gallon and all the cars were tiny and mostly scooters but it is an island so its not so hard to get around. when we move to florida i think hes going for a motorcycle.
