Motel6 will still be more than $50. It starts around $70 in this area, if there are vacancies.

I agree the $50 rooms at a Motel 6 largely exist at their highway locations out in the middle of nowhere.

Cheap is fine, nothing wrong with being frugal and watching your money. What's more important is having realistic expectations on price BEFORE you head out for your vacation, so that when you get to the hotel you're not facing sticker shock and already disappointed in your trip.
