Alright, here is my situation.

I am from Pittsburgh, PA and transferring to FAU. Now I have 1-2 other roommates who are coming down with me. Our budget together is around 1,350.00 a month. Thats around 450 or so a piece.

What area is SAFE to stay in. Any certains parts of Boca that are bad and that we need to stay away from.

I know the crime is realllllllly bad in certain cities such as West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale and Lake Worth.

How is delray beach as far as living?

I only have 1 week to decide where were living.

Any help would be great!

You will be fine in most areas of Delray Beach and Boca Raton, perhaps avoiding just around the railroad tracks, especially in Delray Beach.

You can try renting through online sources, by phone or through a broker - fine if you seek convenience in exchange for getting stiffed with fees - but your best bet is to come down for the week you have available, rent a car, and check out the two areas neighborhood by neighborhood, or even on foot. Look for "for rent" signs directly from owners if you want the best deal for your money: for $1350 you should be able to find a very nice 2 bedroom, maybe even a decent 3 bedroom.

So get on a plane now, otherwise you might be in for nasty surprises if you rely on the word of someone else.

Good luck.

Roughly speaking, yes, but even some areas around the tracks are okay. Generally speaking, you should be fine in most areas of Boca Raton, but you really need to come down and see for yourself the particular situation you might be in. Common sense says that you run risks if you book housing sight unseen.

You can find plenty of decent 3 bedroom, 2+ bathroom options in Boca Raton area within your price range.

I suggest staying IN Boca or within X miles of campus, rather than an outlying area, because traffic can get a bit rough, and it's no fun being late to class (I did my undergraduate at FAU's Jupiter campus).

The zipcode for FAU in Boca is 33431... sites like Rent.com have the ability to search by "University".

I am a student at FAU. I suggest that you make the trip on campus when you are looking for housing. There are tons of advertisements on campus for people looking to rent to students. The campus is in a good area. You should not have any problems finding something quite livable in your price range. As others have said, most of Boca is pretty nice.

Feel free to message me with questions about FAU if you think of any.
