Especially in Florida.

Housepainters here make about $8-$10 an hour.

You need a substantial investment and need to be able to employ people.
FL is a low paying State I agree but $8-$10 is about what a painters helper would make.
A real painter shouldn't have a problem making twice that ($16-$20).

Or you could be creative and get with an interior designer or decorator and market these skills as a high- end service.

Some people might really go for the old-school artisan idea of one guy doing everything.

Right now I might be able to Invest 50-75k USD in the business. In a year from now I hope 75-100k, but then I need to be Up and running right away when I move.
I Guess My only chance would be the E-2 VISA but I lso realize it can be Quite tricky for me to get.
And to start off a new form with employes with only 50-100k can be tricky as well I think.
But i'm looking for a solution

If an FL painter makes 16-20USD/ hour would that amount make it possible to Provide for the family?
In Sweden that's quite low, I make around 32-35 USD/hour right now, but not as a painter.

I think that could be a fun project but Hard to start with.
Without anyone knowing My skills as a painter I think it can get even harder to convince the customer to pay me even more for the int.design and/or decorating.
But yeah, I think the idea is great and I think that the paintwork and design with a Little Nordic touch would be an sucess all över FL.
IF we skip IKEA

No, painters do not make $16-$20 an hour. The contractor makes/bills that kind of money then pays the workers $8-$10 an hour. They get paid so little that the companies hiring don't even advertise the pay rate. Just take a look at Craigslist in Miami.

Being a painter is not a viable business that the will help anyone obtain an E2 Visa especially in this political climate.

It would be a lot easier to open a nail salon. I'm not kidding.

Hmm, that dosen't sound to Good to me, but from what I so far found on the internet it seems that you might be right...
As I work in sales right now then maybe My only option Will be to try to get relocated within the company...but the company I work for isn't represented in the US market, only EU and Asia, and it's to the US i want to move :'(
