I almost DIED this morning. I walk around in very dim lighting, and thought I saw a scropion on the floor. I said to myself, nooooo...... they don't have scorpions in Florida. Well.... I turned on the light, and low and behold, there was a scorpion. I almost died. Anyway, it's a dead one now, but when I did some research, I found your Forum here and to my surprise, other Floridians have also found scorpions in their houses. I was shocked, as I didn't think they were in Florida.

Can anyone tell me what attracts them in to a house? Is there anything I can do to prevent others coming in? My house is pretty much bug secure, so I have no idea how this fella got in.

Thanks to all that reply. I just joined up and hope I can be of value to the forum. Thanks.

I was sitting at my desk at work once, and a scorpion fell off the light fixture on to my desk. Scared me half to death. That was a long time ago. So, yes, Virginia, we do have scorpions here. They get in like any other bug.

It is not even as bad as a bee sting for most people.
When I see them is the house I usually just pick them up and move them outside.

I think the scorpions are the least of your worries. Driving to and from work every day - now that's deadly!

I see scorpions every now and then in our home. We have a pest control service so usually when I find them they are dead. Bugs don't really bother me. I guess that comes from being a native Floridian. There are lots of little critters in Florida.

Scorpions are arachnids they are related to spiders and the ones here are not deadly. they are only about 2 inches or so.
