Time to legalize recreational use of it. FL would gain plenty of money from it and we have ideal growing conditions for it, aside from hurricanes.

Most all of the pot grown these days is indoors. Conditions can be controlled vastly better.

But they could definitely grow some strains which are high CBD (doesn't get you high, but is useful as medicine OTC...)...and lower THC (gets you high)...

I am pretty much for decrim of everything. However, they must be over-21 and regulated and taxed. I also do have concerns about the strength of the stuff sold these days (yes, even pot....edibles can really really cause a bad trip and they have tinctures where 4 drops will get some people too high!)...

Florida already has a big share of bad (high, stoned, drunk, old, distracted, etc.) drivers. It may not be a bad idea to limit the strength of rec. stuff to "medium" and "light".

I do think edibles and tinctures present a problem....especially since many people combine pot and drinking.

(This is coming from a baby boomer who inhaled a lot in his teens).

You are right, but it won't happen. If they did, illegal pot would keep being sold and it gets stronger and stronger.

The trend across the nation is very clear. Medical marijuana is here, established and accepted and moving forward. Which clearly invalidates the Federal ban, which is based on "no accepted medical usage". Recreational use is the obvious next step. There has never been a scientific or public health rationale for the prohibition. Florida is a major State, and needs to keep up with the times. Legal cannabis has arrived. The health and economic benefits will be enormous.

There's a medical marijuana store open right now in Venice (maybe more but I know 1 for sure), so what is the debate about? Are they operating illegally? I never see any police there. 71% of Floridians voted for it, and the new Governor agrees to comply. Drop the lawsuits, save us some $, and let's move on.

We have a friend in GA whose young Son just started using it to treat severe autism, and its made a huge improvement in his behavior, and ability to learn. It really can help some people. I was a skeptic, but no more.

It's not so simple. Yes, you can go to a "Dr." that is willing to risk their medical license (due to federal illegality) to get a medical marijuana card. Try finding a credible doctor that can help you decide how to mix that in with your other medications.

Medical marijuana needs to be federally accepted. I never thought about the cost of cannabis prohibition, but it's well explained by the effects of alcohol prohibition way back when.

If anyone's interested, here's an interesting video. It's long, but since it's youtube you can alway speed it up.

Nope, its legal.

We just got our 1st store last week here in Bonita and there are 2 more scheduled to open. Collier county won't allow it (yet) so one that is opening is just north of the county line on US-41 and South of Bonita Beach Road:

Still many unanswered questions concerning smokeable cannabis. How much will a patient be allowed?
And what about a garden?

Florida could really use recreational/medical legal.

With the hard drug epidemic, and the hard time the crazy folks in Florida have to just "chill", it will be a huge benefit.

One wonders how much foreign tourists would partake in the new economy,if it does ever kick off. The Brits do like their smoke.
