Outside of Florida in Orange Beach, Al Perdido Beach Resort posted for an accountant 7 days ago on Indeed paying between 50-60K. The area in Florida you are looking does not seem to have any large resorts that may have a need for accountants.

OP, it seems you did your homework, and found it's s no go.

Not sure what you're expecting anyone to say.

I guess I'll have to wait until retirement then to live there.

Pat yourself on the back for figuring out it wouldn't work for you right now.
Look at how many people do their homework, learn/are told the odds are against them, move anyway, and find themselves in a living nightmare.

Well you wanna live in a more rural/touristy part of the state but you have a career made for urban areas. You just have to make a compromise. You can move to the panhandle but you probably won't work in your field. Maybe it is best you wait for retirement. Either way, not like the panhandle isn't a day trip away. There's so many beautiful places in Minnesota I would love to live in... small towns on lakeshores, far from the city... but until I can get my career off the ground and am able to work from home successfully, that ain't gonna be viable. I know that. So I plan vacations accordingly.

If you ever have the funds for it, have you considered maybe buying a summer beach house on the coast? Maybe its not something you can afford to do ATM, but maybe its an investment you can set your heart in. Up here we have a cabin culture, as in, people live in the city but buy cabins up north that they use for summer and winter retreats. I grew up in Florida, and personally don't know anyone that did this but if the money is there, buying a beach house may be a good alternative. You can still keep your job but have a nice escape in a more idyllic spot.
