Do you know why the State Capital is in Tallahassee? Because Tallahassee's centrally located between St. Augustine and Pensacola! Yep. Those were the Two thriving metropolis's back then, so it made sense.

Today, Orlando's closer to the center of things. Plus it has a World Class airport, and infrastructure.

Not going to happen...

HB 1335 was proposed last year and died on March 10, 2018.

It does make sense to move it though.

We have a new Governor, and lots of new State Representatives. I could come up for vote again. Tallahassee is a bad location, and costs taxpayers added costs to maintain. The remote location makes it inefficient.

There are plenty of examples of where state capitals aren't geographically located and Florida's was due to the fact when the state was founded Tallahassee was near the center of what had been developed. The entire west coast of the US is set up the same way with Washington, Oregon and California featuring capitals at the far end of each state. The same goes for Utah, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Georgia and Maine with many of those examples featuring longer distances than seen here. In other words, maybe we can get over it...

No really, in California the state capital is Sacramento and the Bay Area is only an hour and half away ( some parts of the bay are shorter in distance) the Bay Area population is 7 million people.

It's also the center of the state and a big city itself.

Even 20 miles outside of Orlando would be better than Tallahassee.
