Does anyone in Florida have a home like this?

1. Very good insulation
2. Many trees in the backyard shading the house
3. Little to no carpet. It's almost all either tile or hardwood.
4. Interior and exterior walls are painted in a light color
5. The house is NOT westward facing
6. Ceiling fan in most rooms
7. All windows have shades/blinds

If so, how much does this help during the summer to reduce air conditioning use?

As an aside, does anyone do this while they sleep at night:

1. Wears gym clothes (you know, sweat-wicking, short-sleeved shirts and shorts) as pajamas
2. No socks
3. No blanket

How much does sleeping like this reduce your air conditioning use?

Did it drastically reduce the AC you used?

My FPL bill was about $75 higher in July 2018 in the new house over July 2017 in the old house. And new house has gas water heater, so probably closer to a $100 difference.

Our home meets most of that criteria but I think the key to lower A/C bills is that we have a higher SEER A/C than most.

Is it bearable in the summer with only the ceiling fans turned on in your house, if you're also wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts, and walk barefoot?

"Bearable" is in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I wouldn't find that bearable today and we only hit about 85. But, I hate being hot.

If your fantasy is not using a/c then you are going to be one sweaty dreamer!

It will reduce the bill but you still will need ac. Another consideration would be window tint to cut down on the heat intrusion.

As djsuperfly pointed out, bearable is subject to interpretation. Me, I run cold and have to wear jackets in restaurants due to the A/C and the refrigerated/freezer sections of the grocery store make me chilly. I keep my A/C set to 78 during the day and do run the ceiling fans on a medium setting. The front of our house faces north and our master bedroom faces east and it definitely feels a few degrees warmer in there during the day (we don't have shade trees and there's nothing else to provide shade over there) and is carpeted. The master bathroom is tiled and does feel cooler but it's also very open. But I do also dress only in shorts/short-sleeved shirts/barefoot at home except on the colder days when it dips into 60s/40s and I'm forced to put on pants because it gets way too cold inside.

A lot of houses here in SWFL seem to have these tiny A/C units. A small unit is going to have to work harder than a larger, higher SEER unit to cool the same space. This is what drives up the costs. See https://www.trane.com/residential/en...d-seer-rating/.
