Miami and Fort Lauderdale are definitely going to be the most like what you’re looking for. Have you considered east Delray-Boynton-Boca? Won’t have as much night life but a lot of young people. Beaches are also probably nicer. The western parts of that area have a lot of old people but with FAU the eastern parts don’t.

Stay home with mom and dad.

Get a focus and plan before you bug out.

You could join the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or Marines in the interim. Learn a trade with them and save your money inthe servuce and when you are done, out and mature enough and have something skills to offer employers to give you a civilian job.

Good luck.

Florida has college towns like Gainesville and Tallahassee that are dominated by the age group of 18-22 for the social life. But that is for the college students. South FL is very expensive and more like Latin America. If you speak Spanish fluently and can integrate into the culture in that way, then South FL may be great. I have known Cuban Americans who love it there. But for a transplant from the north, South FL may be a bit of a culture shock.

Gainesville and Tallahassee are heavily centered upon college students of ages 18-22 (to the extreme) - especially in Tallahassee. A slightly older graduate student (say about 26) can feel out-of-place at FSU. So, where do the recent college graduates in their early 20s go for their first job?

A common first choice is the "I-4 corridor" for a recent college graduate. This is the stretch of road from Daytona Beach to Tampa with Orlando at its center. You would most likely be happier along the I-4 corridor.
A lot of FSU graduate go there to work. It has a heavy night life and theme parks like Disney World, the popular Universal Orlando, and many things to do for those in their early 20s. Culturally, it's also more like the "northern city" than most other parts of FL. North FL is part of the Bible Belt Protestant Deep South. By contrast, South FL is like Latin/Caribbean America. But you would probably like Central FL and the I-4 corridor.

I was an older graduate student at FSU back in the 2000s, and I felt out-of-place. I did not want to be like "Frank the Tank" to "try" and fit in - lol. Best wishes.

I think this is sound advice. Moving to Miami Beach might sound great but after sitting in line at Nikki Beach Club for 2 hours, having to hand the doorman $50 and then spending $20 per drink you will learn to loathe the nightlife there. You will have just as much fun living in or near a college town and your money will go much, much further.
