I know certain colors (red & blue) aren't allowed, but what are the laws for having white & yellow strobes on your own personal / private civilian vehicle (and not a work vehicle)? I can't seem to find anything online that says you can't havem. Would this be legal? This would be the surface mount kind that go on the bumpers/grill or inside front / rear windshields, (not an overhead lightbar).

Flashing lights are illegal on normal vehicles so I assume strobe lights would fall into this category Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine (#7)

Any color lights on a vehicle are illegal, even white. If you get them, keep them for use only at car shows or whatever in parking lots.

You can use a solid light on your car.

I once had a company truck lent to me for personal use when I was having car troubles. It had a yellow and white strobe light.
I was driving home at night on a country road, and while tinkering with buttons, mistakenly turned on the strobe without noticing. I must have had it on for a solid minute. The police got a call about it, and I was pulled over. I had to go to court for this (case thrown out eventually, but wasted time nonetheless.) Don't do it, lol.

It's a good thing to have for when you need to get somewhere fast.

Expand further, please. I can tell you right now, that any of the idiots driving around with lights in their wheel-wells, under their cars, etc, are in violation, even if the light is white. I'm a police officer, and have used the violation many times.

My GF put track lighting in a border around her rear window. Never an issue.

And I've never done it but you are allowed to put a solid light dome on top of your vehicle. What will make it illegal if it's flashing.
