Another Florida body found in the mouth of an alligator: report

For the second time in a week, a body has been found in a Florida waterway in the clutches of an alligator.

The St. Petersburg Police Department responded on Thursday morning after a body was found in the mangroves of Lake Maggiore, according to a press release.

Media reports said witnesses saw the body being dragged around and surrounded by multiple alligators.

Last week, a body was found in a canal in south Polk County being consumed by an alligator. In that case, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission trappers caught the alligator and performed a necropsy to find a hand and foot of the victim, Michael Ford II, 45, of Wauchula, in the alligator’s stomach.

Yet, the government protects the Alligators while they want us to kill all the Iguana's. I've yet to see a headline that reads:

"IGUANA EATS MAN"

Really?

Alligators are not protected (can be hunted and farmed) and are native to Florida, Iguana's are not.
Alligators are not relocated either, they're put down. Trappers usta be able to sell the meat and hides for decent money, now they just charge for services rendered.

Those people could have died some other way and the gators found the bodies.

Also, under normal circumstances, gators are afraid of people and will retreat. But people are stupid and they break the law and FEED them (against the law to do so ) and they become "tamed" and associate people with food.

I see stupid people walking their fluffy near known bodies of water that contain gators, even have their children play around these same ponds.

Typically a healthy gator has no interest in being around people unless they're fed. Gators are opportunistic feeders however and will eat anything they can catch. They're are many instances of calves being taken in addition to hogs, deer, pythons, etc.

I am however concerned about Croc's which have been on the rise in south Florida. Here's a croc at a dock.... it's `12' and are protected.
