Warmer and more volatile temperatures is having an affect globally. I believe Paris was 104 degrees a day or two ago. Records were broken all over Northern Europe. The gulf, Lake O. and the lagoons on the east coast are where we see the affects. But yeah, everywhere is being effected.
Menhaden or commonly called bunker have had "die offs" since they were observed and harvested during colonial times. I am not discounting your information, but putting it in context. There is no single "reason" and Menhaden may if fact (at times) self regulate population (not consciously).

Day to day, year to year, decade to decade measurement of temperatures has no statistical scientific value. The poles and the oceans regulate temperature. Science seeks a constant for measurement and Greenland is most often used for measuring the affect of climate.

No one denies how it "feels" or what they see, but context gives us bench marks and historical reference.

Yes man has impacted the earth and the effects are showing up. Common everywhere and not just a FL problem.

OP What are the stats of infected people vs population of people swimming?

The news needs to sell news thus these headlines

Don’t enter closed beaches ( future Darwin Candidates ignore sign to win award) but other than that

Look to be aware of things higher up on the life risk chain

Other than that, the sky is not falling

Stay out of the water. Or go to any beach since life is not a beach.

Uh Oh, now they are talking brain swelling mosquito warnings in Florida big time!

Kills 30% of those infected......and especially dangerous if over 50.

When they tell you "don't get bit by a mosquito and don't go in the water with a scratch"....well, these things are quite difficult to avoid.

And an extremely unlikely chance of being impacted. More dangerous to drive to the store. Guess we should all quit doing that.

Had it. Very uncomfortable but rarely life threatening.

Mosquito-borne viruses. These viruses can cause infections such as West Nile, La Crosse, St. Louis, western equine and eastern equine encephalitis. Symptoms of an infection might appear within a few days to a couple of weeks after exposure to a mosquito-borne virus. Only northerns get really sick.

When are you selling your place in Sarasota? Or maybe you have already. Surely you can no longer continue to put yourself at risk by coming here as a snowbird.
