Especially with the current spike in flesh-eating bacteria cases, here's a very good article on what's going on in Florida waters

I have the solution. Do what New Jersey, New York, California, and Illinois has done. Raise the taxes and fees on EVERYTHING so much, the humans leave Florida like they left these States. Eventually, all the humans will be gone, and Mother Nature can begin repairs on Florida's waterways.

Flesh eating bacteria is even up north now, not just Florida waters.

He's being fed information and it's not very accurate. The writer is an outdoorsman from MO and knows a lot about the west, but he has no actual experiences per se'.

Florida is water rich and the hydraulics are very complex. Most would NEVER understand the hydrology of florida and again.... most get their information from media sources.

It would takes days (literally) to comprehend how it all works. One thing for sure, only man made problems ( Army Corp of Engineers) can be fixed with man made solutions. Gov. Ron DeSantis is committed to restoring health and vitality to our most precious natural resource.... water.

For every one case in Delaware, there's many many more in Florida and Alabama. Basically any beachgoer in any state on the Gulf is screwed. But yes there also also cases in the Atlantic. The Gulf cases are many many more.

OH YEAH, this is all a figment of some Montanan's imagination. Leftist conspiracy. Hillary's emails. Trump derangement syndrome. It's the fake news media's fault! This is all perfectly natural and totally fine! Nothing to see. Move right along.

See you on the beach. You might want to wear your Hazmat suit.

The problem is man-made. The Corp changed a lot of the natural flow when they built the intercoastal waterway, cut canals and made islands from dredging spoils. I am not sure who built the causeway in Titusville but put together they significantly constricted and changed the natural tidal flow. Population growth, septic spillage, garden/lawn and agriculture nutrients promote algae growth. The nutrient rich water does not get flushed out of Mosquito Lagoon.

I live beachside north of the lagoon, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Halifax River/intercoastal waterway. In my zip we have lots of septic systems built in the 50's and 60's. Even though we are not residents of Ormond Beach City, the city is planning on expanding the sewer system eventually to my area. Although my guess is they are more than 20 years away from the sewer reaching my street. I am glad our little area isn't as bad as Mosquito Lagoon, but it can get that way.

Mississippi closed all their beaches, it is a growing problem.

Their beaches were closed as a result of algae blooms related to the flooding in the mid west, a natural event.

Emotional outbursts like the op doesn't help. Makes our/the "cause" look stupid. There is solid science and it's a work in progress. Florida has hydraulically alters since the 20's. We have 100 years of corrections and alterations and WE must deal with population growth. We live in an incredible state and it's expensive/hard to keep it that way.

Little improvements is how this will work, without becoming California (over regulated).

You seem to be doing a pretty good job of trying to discredit what people say without actually making any points of your own. What exactly are you trying to say ? Are you saying the redirecting of waterways and pollutants in the original article are not major causes of concern?
