I'm a single male, mid 20's, looking to start a tech consulting company. I've nailed it down to these 3 as I love Florida. I'd like to live somewhere with relatively cheap rent, the best nightlife, a good dating scene, a laid back culture that is easy to make friends and possibly a place to buy a condo. Politically I am conservative and don't speak Spanish. Where would I fit in?

Any reason why you’re looking at only those 3 places? Miami and Fort Lauderdale are not laid back nor conservative. WPB is slightly more so, but not a hotbed for tech startups. Nothing in SE FL is cheap unless you move into the slums.

Seriously. If someone is conservative, laid back, doesn't speak Spanish, and wants affordable housing, these are the three worst cities in Florida to live in.

of the 3 areas mentioned, West Palm Beach would be the best choice for the OP.

If looking for other warmer climates with notable/more tech presence, check out Dallas, Austin (not as conservative as rest of TX, though) or the North Carolina cities.

My 6 Reasons Not to Move to South Florida and I live here.

1. Stressful Day 2 Day Living
2. Expensive on All Levels from Publix to Housing
3. Heavy Traffic (And Getting Worse Every Day)
4. Pushy / Uptight / Rude / Aggressive People
5. Legal and Illegal Entitled 3rd World Immigrants
6. Deathly Humid (Feels like Living in a Sauna) from May to October

Not sure I completely agree...I managed to move to Miami, by choice, but brought my tech job (33 years with one of the top semiconductor companies in the world) and CA based salary with me before recently retiring. Probably a different story if one is not bringing their high paying job and/or wealth earned elsewhere with them and/or already has tech connections in place before starting a new company here—but not impossible. See links in my earlier reply above and responses in red below.

1. Stressful Day 2 Day Living —depends where you live.
2. Expensive on All Levels from Publix to Housing—depends on your income and wealth.
3. Heavy Traffic (And Getting Worse Every Day)—depends on your commute
4. Pushy / Uptight / Rude / Aggressive People—depends where you are from
5. Legal and Illegal Entitled 3rd World Immigrants—I’ve encountered well to do and nice immigrants
6. Deathly Humid (Feels like Living in a Sauna) from May to October—depends where you live; on the water, not true...3-5 miles inland, yes.

Your main potential problem is "relatively cheap rent".

1) Relative to what? London, UK? Ames, Iowa?

2) You want to start a tech consulting company?

This is not looking good: cheap rent, starting a business, southern Florida.

Realize that southern Florida is a tiny strip of land between ocean and swamp with some seven million human beings and counting - not to mention all kinds of insects and other wildlife - competing for space and shrinking.

Times do change, but over the past hundred years or so, a lot of people from the northern United States at least come to Florida long after they have been successful in business and it looks relatively cheaper.

And let's not talk about what motivates people coming from south of here, except to say it runs the gamut.

The other points on your list are superfluous and depend more on you than others, even if on the surface of it that seems contradictory.

Good Luck!

Out of these... West Palm Beach fits you the best, but then again "best nightlife" and "laid-back" don't go together. West Palm Beach is still a Blue area, but it isn't the same level as Fort Lauderdale and Miami. It's also not as expensive as those two cities. However, its nightlife is not nearly as good. It's definitely more laid back than those two. It sounds like Tampa or Jacksonville are better choices for you considering you mentioned your political beliefs.
