All for helping hungry children-

but if children are going to school hungry, why is the school district seen as the villain and not the negligent parents?

Sometimes it's very hard for those who have become comfortable to realize others lack of security. A good man stands out in the crowd. Leave it at that.

"Parents never have to worry about paying the bills" - I like the humanity in this man, but he's doing nothing more than enabling negligent and irresponsible parents. If children are not able to get school lunches, we need to be sending social workers to their homes, not paying for the parents lack of responsibility. It was $944 this time. When those GoFundMe's start happening, just watch how quickly that number sky rockets. Lots of terrible parents will just let this man pay the bill for them. What a deal! And when he eventually stops, we'll be stuck with a mess.

I think you're missing the point. It's not the negligent parents who are going to suffer.

I'm not missing the point at all, and in fact, I addressed it in my comment.

I think the guy is great for helping children. I do wonder about the parents though. When I lived in FL I observed that young marriages were very common - the type most likely to divorce due to financial reasons. Or sometimes the child was born to unmarried parents such that the father disappeared. It's great the guy helped settle a debt for the children's sake. But at some point the biological parents need to step up.

Absolutely. If parents aren't feeding their children, then there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Relying on a GoFundMe and some random dude to cover lunch debts is ridiculous.

You're absolutely right. It is ridiculous that in a country such as ours every child isn't afforded the quality of life that so many take for granted. It's sad that 10% control 70% of the wealth. It's insane that so many have substandard or non existent health care. Crazy that some eschew the dignity of hard work but hold on to their right to pay poverty wages. Demented that so many profess their deep faith yet completely ignore scripture or spin it to fit their agenda. Yep. It's strange.
