I just read that most Pensacola Creoles left for Tampico in Mexico in 1840 due to Jim Crow laws. Poetic Justice.

Cubans are in fact the largest Hispanic ethnic group in Florida.

Over 57% of Florida residents below the age of one were minorities in 2011. Residents of Latino or Hispanic ancestry accounted for over 25.6% of the community, and the biggest groups included Cubans (6.5%), Puerto Ricans (4.5%), Mexicans (3.3%), and Colombians (1.6%). Florida has the highest number of African Americans in the country, which was about 16.9% of the state's population in 2017.

But, as far as Hispanics in north Florida, luckily the growth is happening slowly enough that the younger generation is learning how to speak perfect English.

Florida was under colonial rule by Spain, France, and Great Britain during the 18th and 19th centuries before becoming a territory of the United States in 1821. Two decades later, in 1845, Florida was admitted to the union as the 27th US state.

Florida was Spanish from 1523 to 1832 except for some 20 years of French and British occupation.

Did they teach you about the battle of Pensacola?

It's matters because if they ever want to get a decent job they'd better know how to speak English. This is not Miami.

Yep. not exactly Brit.......Boston is Brit.

"On March 3, 1845, Florida became a slave state of the United States of America. Almost half the state's population were enslaved African Americans working on large cotton and sugar plantations, between the Apalachicola and Suwannee rivers in the north central part of the state"
