Perhaps. But employers and unions aren't forcing anyone to join an organization, people are free to walk away and seek employment elsewhere. But in some states government IS infringing on the right to make contracts and do business with whom one chooses.

That's between two consenting adults/private parties to decide. What you want is for the government to step in and say that its illegal for an employer to require membership as a condition of employment. What you are advocating is against free market principles.

Its funny how the only time Republicans want to regulate employers to protect workers for something, its to "protect" them from those evil unions.

Minimum wage - nope, republicans claim free-market principles yet they want to regulate employers to make sure they're anti-union.

Unions, unions, unions. A farce that makes workers think that they can get a job, get paid well, reap a lot of benefits and while doing so be a slacker.

It's very consistent with free market principles. No one us telling the union they can't exist and try to earn members into their group.

A worker and employer should be able to contact with each other freely without the need for some mandated union intermediary. That's the free market way.

Remember, unions aren't creating the jobs or employing, they are simply an intermediary, one that should be voluntary to join, not mandated to join

Unions are one of the means by which the market corrects itself, thus government interference with the ability of unions to make contracts that set terms of employment is an interference in the free market.

Why should the government make anything union mandatory? Sounds like interference and pro-union proganda to me.

Luckily, opinion and government sway are on my side, not yours.

If you want strong unions, go to Michigan. Oh wait, they just became RTW

The government doesn't make it mandatory, it allows it to be mandatory. Doing so is stepping back and letting business take it's course.

Your remarks make it obvious your views are based on self interest and not on a coherent political and economic philosophy; just expediency. Which is fine, as a man of the world I expect such an attitude. Just don't try to BS people that what's good for you is good for them, or that you're concerned with more than pure self interest. Or that you're concerned about workers.

Right-to-work PREVENTS a worker and an employer from entering a contract freely. Right-to-work is a law that RESTRICTS certain contracts. What part of that don't you get?

True freedom would be not having any laws that dictate who can do what. That means no right-to-work laws.

RTW does no such thing. it simply doesn't allow mandatory union membership as a condition of becoming employed.
