No.

Consumption of alcohol in bars has been suspended. Bars can still be open. Plenty of bars do more than just serve alcohol.

And, huge loophole in this, if the bar serves any form of food (most do,) it is considered a restaurant, and it can continue to serve alcohol.
It's stupid, and will accomplish absolutely nothing.

I am glad to hear it. Apparently, there was a record-shattering 9000 new cases reported today. If the death rate is lower, it is only because those getting sick are younger and those who are at risk are taking precautions, even putting their life on hold. So, yeah, as long as half the population is afraid to leave their house, we can put partying on hold.

My bad. I shoulda known that DeSantis wouldn't have done something so stupid as to issue an effective order.

If we'd close bars and churches we'd have pretty much the entire population covered.

It will be interesting to see the accompanying death rates in 3 to 5 weeks. 9,000 new cases in ONE day is no bueno.

In order to be considered a restaurant not a bar they have to take in more than 50% of their business in food sales not just serve food. They also can only serve alcohol at tables and at the current 50% capacity. It will actually accomplish something if they abide by it. The numbers did not start to go up like this until they allowed bars to open.

The state Division of Emergency Management’s daily report shows that they were doing about 25,000 to a little below 40,000 tests a day....up until 6/24 when it jumped to almost 58,000 tests that one day.....then 6/25....Thurs..... the numbers they are reporting....it jumped to over 70,000 tests that one day

BUT....the percent positive on 6/25 was almost 15%......14.74%...the second highest percent yet

so yes, they did test a whole lot more people to get that ~9000 positive.......but the percent of positive went way up too

The state has not issued mandatory orders for wearing masks. It's left up to individual counties and municipalities to do so as they see fit. At this point Miami Dade County and Hillsborough counties have made wearing masks in public places mandatory, with fines in Miami Dade county for not wearing them. There may be other areas in FL where they are mandatory but I am not aware of them.

The counties and cities will have to do a lot of the legwork....just like they did in March, which I believe contributed significantly to the good results we had in late April and early May.

Beaches in Miami-Dade County will close on Fourth of July weekend and gatherings of 50 or more people will be banned over concerns of social distancing and the coronavirus.

County Mayor Carlos Gimenez will sign an emergency order to close beaches starting Friday, July 3, and ending Tuesday, July 7, his office announced Friday.

"As we continue to see more COVID-19 positive test results among young adults and rising hospitalizations, I have decided that the only prudent thing to do to tamp down this recent uptick is to crack down on recreational activities that put our overall community at higher risk," Gimenez said in a statement.
