Much depends on what type of work you are looking for. The cities you have listed are quite different from one another. I lived in Miami-Dade for a number of years before moving to Broward County (Fort Lauderdale area) and now live north in Vero Beach.

The best advice I can give you is come down here and rent for 1 year. With a $50k budget you might want to consider something more in the northern part of the state with more possibilities in your budget range and within 1 hr to beaches.

Good luck to you!

Plenty of homes under 70k in west Pasco around the gulf. Some have been sitting empty since 2008. This area never came back jack and now with another blow to housing prices could drop back to under 30k. Many homes were selling for under 25k back in 2010.

A lease-purchase agreement may be good for you. As always, find the cheapest house in a good area and go from there. Find a property that interests you and ask neighborhood particulars in the specific forum.

Renting for a year is a possible option. But I am honestly tired of renting and paying a mortgage on someone else's property. Been doing that for 15 years. I could have owned my own home already if I added up the costs I have paid for renting. Jacksonville has cheaper options but looks like it is dangerous from what I am reading online. Vero Beach seems nice. Again literally a handful of options for Vero Beach.

When I visited down there it was actually during the hottest time of year. Also you should know us New Englanders are use to crazy weather. It can go hot to cold or cold to hot very quickly here.

Yeah I am waiting to see what the CORONAVIRUS does. The market may drop again.
