Much warmer than average ocean temperatures surrounding Florida apparently contributed to warmest March on record in Florida.

https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/global-climate-202003

<<The record warm water in the Gulf of Mexico spilled over into every coastal community along the shoreline with all-time high temperatures on land, said Deke Arndt, chief of the monitoring section at the National Centers for Environmental Information in Asheville, North Carolina. Florida recorded its warmest March on record, and Miami reached 93 degrees April 15, a record for the date and 10 degrees above normal, according to the National Weather Service....

While coronavirus has the nation’s attention right now, global warming continues to be a threat. Seawater “remembers and holds onto heat” better than the atmosphere, Arndt said.>>

Water temps don't mean much. We can get a cane any year. The Tampa area has not had a hit from a real storm since 1921. Warmer water temps help with stronger storms sometimes. As the planet super heats over the next 70 years sea temps will run away and most life in the sea will die out past 120 years. All we need is sea temps around 5 degrees hotter and it is all downhill jill. Already having probs with sea life and it being displaced. Just look at the last 9 years and see how much FL has warmed up.

Look at the last few years and see all the record hottest months go down the rabbit hole nicole. Not going to be a nice planet over the next 120 years. Nothing can be done to stop it. This a normal 1500 year warming cycle. Been hot and cold many times over billions of years.

water temps in March are meaningless regarding the Tropical season. Because it's not the season yet, for one. Plus the dynamics to start up a storm aren't in place yet.

Most times it is until we get into Aug we have to worry murry. But would like a stuck TS in the northeast gulf like we had in 2012 when i got 11" in 6 hours.

Default Active hurricane season forecast

Experts are forecasting an active hurricane season as a result of the warm sea surface temperatures. The average forecast as of 5/11 is for 8 hurricanes and 17 named storms.

https://www.news4jax.com/weather/202...season-likely/

Note that a couple forecasters anticipate as many as 12 hurricanes.

https://seasonalhurricanepredictions.bsc.es/

The average number of hurricanes between 1981 and 2010 is 6.4, according to Colorado State University. The average number of named storm days during this base period was 59.4, but the Colorado State University for this year is for 80 days. Perhaps most importantly, Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) during the base period averaged 106. Colorado State forecasts an ACE of 150 for this hurricane season, reflecting the warmer ocean temperatures and rapid intensification now experienced by Atlantic hurricanes.

https://tropical.colostate.edu/media...04/2020-04.pdf

Not all of these hurricanes will impact Florida or even the mainland U.S. The above report estimates a 44-45 percent probability of a hurricane striking Florida, about a 50 percent higher probability than in the past century.

March was nothinn...The entire month of APRIL felt like July the Whole Month , now May is behaving like April should have been...

And The Hurricane Season is approaching and the Entire Peninsula is up on tippy toes on these reports that call for a Higher Than NORMAL Hurricane Season.

The Same Crap every year !!!! The Supermarkets do not need this Help, they are getting it from The Pandemia already.

People Relax and Get ready, but do not Get Worried, Hurricanes come with PLENTY of time for the Citizens to make their moves and NOAA will keep us informed CORRECTLY and without the FEARS of The Weather Channel or the Local TV Stations,

We will be fine without the Hype, the Sky is not falling Folks !!! Not Even The Coronavirus can take those honors yet !!!

Dont' Worry, Be Happy !!!

This month has been average to cooler than average so far.

Our variances in water temps has had no effect on hurricane development over the years. It is used primarily for global warmers talking points and nothing else.

Exactly. Every year since since "green" has been a human fad of the day, "they" say that it's going to be a higher than normal hurricane season, and every year it's a normal hurricane season, like it has been for the last 300,000 years, like it will be for the next 300,000 years, before, during and after humans.

In the meantime - because life is a series of short runs for humans - take advantage of the sales tax holiday, this year May 29 to June 4, to buy extra D batteries in advance, because they are the hardest thing to find in the days of a pre-warning for a hurricane which usually bypasses where ever one is anyway except once every ten years or so.

I still have packs of batteries from previous umpteenth "higher than normal" normal hurricane seasons that I never needed to use, not to mention jugs of water.

bale002 as well as I and countless other Old Warriors in these yearly Florida Dates with Nature, We have learned with time to weather not the Storms but the Pandemonium the Media Creates year after year, after year that ONLY scares lost people, basically what we have been living NATIONALLY since early March in the USA.

We have ALL we need when the time arrives, and since unlike an Earthquake, that comes and goes unannounced..The 'Canes gives Ample time to hunker down. I always have said and will continue to say it, only Idiots and maybe an unlucky Soul here and there Will die in a Hurricane, and not another human that is prepared for the Match.

We got a ways to go, hopefully when the first one is announced, we are out of the Pandemic, and every one is ready and not running like MANIACS to get the needed goods. for a possible long haul without electricity and or potable water.

It's easier than buttering a warm toast.
