They are so obnoxious. I wish they would stay in Ohio and my dad is an alumni and even HE hates the buckeyes. Undergrad and masters degrees.

I’ve thought about doing the one day boat trip to Key West from Fort Myers Beach... or doing a one day drive to snorkel at John Pennekamp-never have done so. But, I’m thinking I might be better served to dedicate 3/4 days to a trip like that... or at very least, do it as a daytrip the next time I’m down in Miami.

The boat trip is more than one day. It's a 3.5 hour boat ride and you are exhausted by the time you get to Key West.

I live in SW Miami and a simple Picnic and Swimming in John Pennekamp for a day leaves you ready to spend the night in Key Largo somewhere and not having to drive back up home.

Nevermind snorkeling on their boats too, you really are exhausted when you leave the Park

Florida couple jailed for breaking COVID-19 quarantine

•July 30, 2020

A Florida couple on Key West that tested positive for the coronavirus was arrested for defying a quarantine order, local officials said Thursday.

Neighbors videotaped Jose Antonio Freire Interian and Yohana Anahi Gonzalez flouting the requirement and then handed the telltale tape over to the Key West police, authorities said.

“There were complaints from the neighborhood of them continuing to be outside, going about normal life functions,” Key West City Manager Greg Veliz told The Miami Herald. “An officer took the video to the judge and the judge signed the warrant.”

There were no court records in an online docket for the Monroe County court system, so it was not immediately clear whether Interian or Gonzalez had an attorney who could comment.

The Florida Keys island chain was closed to nonresidents for two months in the spring to keep outsiders from spreading the new coronavirus. It reopened to visitors in June.

Interian, 24, and Gonzalez, 27, appear to be among the first people who have been jailed in Florida for breaking quarantine.

“As far as I know, these are the first arrests of this kind in Monroe County,” Brandie Peretz, a spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County, told NBC News.

If by chance one of them or both are not legal residents, they are in hotter water than breaking Covid-19 Quarantine Orders. It remains to be seen.
