Let's propose, hypothetically speaking you have to relocate but your options are limited specifically to places that have real cold seasons. Or in other words if you had to put up with the cold where would you AND PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY ?

I look towards your answers

Denver, CO - mild winters, 300 days of sun, tons of pro sports, vibrant downtown, ample jobs in any/every industry, an airport with several airlines as their hubs and access to the mountains. Biggest downside to Denver is now the cost of living, which was a big reason we decided to leave.

Philadelphia, PA. I grew up near there and still have some family in the area.

Boston, because it has a little of everything for everyone, and a T-pass (subway) will get you to all of it.

Portland, OR and Denver are on our retirement short list. We want something that has both outdoor mountain recreation nearby and a big and vibrant urban core. No red cities- we've had enough of that for the past twenty years and are ready for change to a place that better reflects our values and basic human decency.

Just stay in Michigan.

Personally I'd look to some of the quieter areas around the thumb. Perhaps North and east of Bad Axe.

Burlington VT

It's beautiful, largely walkable with a nice downtown, very safe and has friendly locals. What's not to like?
