I am in a similar boat. My parents are older and I like being near them in case they need help.

Its comforting to know that there are others out there who also care about peoples lives more than business.

Daughter's MIL bought a house in Florida. She just retired and is moving there end of July. Daughter in NY wants to move there because she and her wife are financially scrapped. MIL has a small cottage out back that they and young son can live in rent free until they find jobs. In the meantime MIL will have to support them. Good situation?

#1 rule for those moving to Florida; have a job lined up FIRST before moving. Probably even more so in these times.

I lived in Florida for 6 months in my 20's. Husband got a job in Florida and we lived there for 10 years until he retired and we moved back up North. Daughter lived in Florida for 3 months with us before she moved back up North. Her wife, who never lived there, is vehemently opposed to moving to Florida; despite HER Mom moving there.

Told my daughter that I hope she has a nice life there. Make enough money so you can come visit us, especially for Christmas (never again). I will never go back to Florida even just to visit. Husband and I are now 71. We do not have very much time left on this earth.

Edit: Both my daughter and DIL work with the public. Coronavirus?

I just had a client of mine come back from FL to MA. Aside from the flying risk, he went straight to his own property and pretty much relaxed there. He took one trip to a store (I think he said Walmart) and said absolutely saw no masks. He went to a restaurant and same thing. To him it felt like FL residents either didn't give a sh*t or just live by "it won't happen to me". He came back and yesterday went to a super market and out of curiosity asked the checkout clerk how many people she has seen without masks. The answer was maybe one a month ago, but that lady turned around and immediately got her mask before coming back in.

The not wearing mask ideology to me has absolutely no logical reasoning. The door s get opened, and it's the people who act irresponsibly, not government. Did the governor tell the residents make sure they don't wear masks and don't social distance? Kind of sad if you ask me.

You can participate in a forum of another state even if you don't live there. Happens all the time.

Im always amazed by those whom relocate ,from HELL,then start to tell the people in PARADISE,how they need to do it.Unfortunately ,the Original Poster, moved to a County, that tends to have more residents much like poster ..The complaint ,really isn't about how FLORIDA ,or it's Gov,are idiots. More like, how, someone made a BAD MOVE. 30 years ago ,I ran from NYC,it was nice compared to now. I lived thru the riots, blackouts of 60's and 1977,. Idiots are those whom take ANY reason to act out as animals. It's not about the Police,Governors,Mayors,a persons color,or who a cop killed.. If that were the case, why is it that, too often, a hurricane, blackout occur,or state of emergency, certain people, think its a permit to loot? THEY are Losers led by Marxists ,some Congress people and George Soro's

So ,I suggest, the O.P. move to a better place.A state that has YOUR COMFORTS. One that is all inclusive.Led by socialists, like OMAR,a Somalian, who grew up in a refugee camp, and now thinks SHE NEEDS to CHANGE AMERICA. She needs to go back where she came from . I think Minnesota would be the right place for the poster ,who ,again,in short time has the answers for Florida .I'm reminded of a time in a North Carolina parking lot. Being from NYC originally, I noticed a NY license plate drive up.I struck up conversation with the NEW N.C. resident. A FORMER NYC guy,who just moved to N.C. . I mentioned ,I might move from Fl.to N.C.during summer months.IMMEDIATELY, he became the N.C. geographical expert .Started telling me,DONT MOVE HERE,DONT MOVE THERE,MOVE to Such and Such.I asked why. 'Because those places are filled with HILLBILLIES,REDNECKS AND FARMERS" (Imagine that in N.C.)he suggested "SUCH and SUCH"is filled with NY,NJ and New Englanders ,like US. I said 'THATS WHAT I RAN FROM 30 years ago, thanks, take care. Is ANYWHERE perfect? I know this,I love Florida, its changing,as is everywhere it seems. But I have found Florida far nicer than the NORTHEAST,great PUBLIC schools, awesome Colleges, with great tuition prices for WE residents.NO State tax.love it or leave it.I'll help ya pack

Which still isn't low enough, aka still not enough testing.

Speaking of packing, there’s certainly a lot to unpack here with your post lol. Great endorsement for not moving to Florida imho. BTW homie, if you haven’t been to NYC since you left 30 yrs ago a lot has changed. Florida’s handling of the pandemic doesn’t give me any confidence in the State’s ability to handle perhaps its greatest looming crisis - Climate Change. Good luck.
