exactly....the numbers are all over the place...and places are not even reporting the same numbers the same way

You would think..if they are taking this serious at all...someone would clamp down on it

right now...none of it is really accurate...and there's no way to fix it

Trump was relying on the "experts"....the experts advising him were all over the map....

Fauci was saying "it's not a major threat"...."Travel restrictions become almost irrelevant"...."there's no need for Americans to change anything that you're doing"....."if you're healthy, take a cruise"...."go to the mall, go to the movies"..."having a campaign rally...was a good judgement"......

and then, to put the cherry on top, Fauci is now saying he lied when he told people > masks were "not effective in preventing" COVID-19 in the general public, saying, "Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!"

Additional cases and deaths occurred because some folks ignorant think it's all a conspiracy. It's not about what happens but how a president responds to it all.

I understand the frustration with the ever evolving advice from scientists about how to deal with COVID. But that is science. As people learn more information, they have to adjust their advice in light of that new information. I believe the problem is that people are assigning malicious intent to previous statements from Fauci and others rather than realizing that their changing positions are based on new information.

I don't think the scientists from when I grew up were intentionally deceiving the public and should lose all credibility because they said Pluto was a planet.

We visited the Lowell Observatory on a trip to Arizona a few years back. The institution is still firmly in the camp that says Pluto is a planet.

except for the fact that Fauci was intentionally deceiving the public...and admitted to it

When Fauci told people masks were "not effective in preventing".."Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!"

..he lied on purpose because they were afraid they would run out of masks...he admitted he lied

This is the "expert" that's been telling Trump what to do....

But they were not aware of asymptomatic spread back then either, which helped them justify not recommending masks and saving manufactured masks for medical professionals. They also didn’t think cloths and homemade masks were effective, and that information changed.

If Fauci was “lying“ and masks were actually effective the whole time, one would think that would move more governors to enact mask policies.

They need to admit it's time to admit that was a mistake.

that is 100% not true.......Fauci admitted he lied....he lied and told the public to stop buying and using masks
....they were afraid they would run out of masks...there's no other reason at all...

""Masks are not 100% protective. However, they certainly are better than not wearing a mask. Both to prevent you, if you happen to be a person who may feel well, but has an asymptomatic infection that you don't even know about, to prevent you from infecting someone else," said Fauci. "But also, it can protect you a certain degree, not a hundred percent, in protecting you from getting infected from someone who, either is breathing, or coughing, or sneezing, or singing or whatever it is in which the droplets or the aerosols go out. So masks work."

..and Fauci flat out admitted he lied...told people they didn't work and to stop buying them....and why he lied

"Well, the reason for that is that we were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply. And we wanted to make sure that the people namely, the health care workers, who were brave enough to put themselves in a harm way, to take care of people who you know were infected with the coronavirus and the danger of them getting infected."

it had nothing to do with any "asymptomatic spread" or any other BS....they didn't want to run out period

I am familiar with the both blocks of quotes, but I won’t exclude the quotes that speak of the evolution of their knowledge of the illness as well.

Given all of the conservatives refusing to wear them anyway, I don’t see why the change in opinion matters.

True, Dr. Fauci just flat out lied, and his justification afterwards were to save masks for healthcare workers. Well, what about the rest of the population of America?!

Imagine there is a fire in a large building with 1000 people in it and the fire chief comes in telling everyone there is no fire, to not be alarmed, and don't run for the exit as the fire gets worse instead of telling everyone there is a fire in the building, form a line and let's quickly move out the building.

This Dr. Fauci is suppose to be an EXPERT with years upon years of experience. We all should know by now, if you have to sneeze or cough, you do it into your inner elbows. That is common sense, by now. Why couldn't officials get Martha Stewart on national TV and broadcast her showing everyone how to make a DIY mask from the very beginning? Why lie to the entire general public from the very beginning?

Scientist.. scientist that told Americans FAT is bad for you, low fat is good, eat more carbs and now 70% of Americans are overweight. Boxes of sugar cubes shaped in colorful shapes that tout "LOW FAT CEREAL!" fill the shelves of supermarkets.

Scientists..

How the Ideology of Low Fat Conquered America

Abstract
This article examines how faith in science led physicians and patients to embrace the low-fat diet for heart disease prevention and weight loss. Scientific studies dating from the late 1940s showed a correlation between high-fat diets and high-cholesterol levels, suggesting that a low-fat diet might prevent heart disease in high-risk patients. By the 1960s, the low-fat diet began to be touted not just for high-risk heart patients, but as good for the whole nation. After 1980, the low-fat approach became an overarching ideology, promoted by physicians, the federal government, the food industry, and the popular health media. Many Americans subscribed to the ideology of low fat, even though there was no clear evidence that it prevented heart disease or promoted weight loss. Ironically, in the same decades that the low-fat approach assumed ideological status, Americans in the aggregate were getting fatter, leading to what many called an obesity epidemic. Nevertheless, the low-fat ideology had such a hold on Americans that skeptics were dismissed. Only recently has evidence of a paradigm shift begun to surface, first with the challenge of the low-carbohydrate diet and then, with a more moderate approach, reflecting recent scientific knowledge about fats.
And as we know, obesity and covid19 do not fare well together. What's interesting to me are the 100 year olds surviving covid19, Ive seen a bunch of those stories.
