I never had a stroke like a silly bloke. But when it comes to weather heather i know best as i can call it out months ahead of time on my local weather. I live it, eat and sleep it like a creep 24/7 deven. Since i started keeping records in 1978 our weather has warmed up so much.

No, just some meteorological luck. One learns there's no such as overreacting to tropical weather systems.

People keep wanting to say bad things about the media, but multiple comments on social media posts about the storm say that local Florida media outlets were not overselling this storm. It was still mostly about COVID. Maybe the cable channels and 6:30pm network news shows were though???

The media, particularly the weather media, must point to the worst case potential for safety's sake. If they didn't and it hit bad, what would anyone say about them. Of course they also look at their revenue and the more people watch the news the more they get in advertising, soooo.. it is what they do.

I really do not think they over hyped this at all, which was very surprising.

They seemed pretty straight upfront about its unpredictable path early on, the possible paths depending if it slowed or not, then the winds from the center, outward, and its impact. At least in regards to the Miami area.

every time they do that (worst case) and a hurricane fizzles, it just hurts the next time around when people ignore the warnings and evac orders
