Yes. There is a commuter rail in Orlando. And it's quite nice. I use it occasionally, when needing to either go from the office (downtown) to Winter Park for either business, breakfast/lunch/dinner, or to Downtown Kissimmee for business.. Used to use it daily when I commuted from farther out.
During peak hours, it's actually easier to get to Park Ave from lots of places (such as downtown) than it is to drive, as traffic can be quite bad.

Tampa Bay absolutely needs one, at the very least connecting downtown St-Pete to Downtown Tampa, and perhaps extending North to Busch Gardens and USF.

Wow, thanks. I wasn’t aware Orlando had established any kind of rail transit apart from Amtrak.

It is easy to get to a station in Orlando and the station in Winter Park is part of the downtown (old Town) and you walk across the park ( a short distance, less than 1/2 block) to a ton of restaurants and interesting stores.

There’s no train but there is a ferry that operates half of the year and hopefully will operate the entire year, based on funding. I think it’ll be a very long time before Tampa Bay gets any kind of rail.

SunRail is a boondoggle of a system that is poorly designed and is basically useless for traffic alleviation, which is the supposed role of public transit. The fact that it doesn't operate on weekends where locals would be far more inclined to use it shows how mismanaged it is.

Well yes... But it’s still nice for those of us who can make use of it.

I'm into live music especially alternative rock, japanese video games, weird artsy psychological movies and I'm writing a sci-fi novel. Just a little background info about me and my vibe. I'm a tattoos, long hair, band tank tops kind of guy. I liked that St Pete seemed more artsy and alternative, and I liked that Orlando seemed geekier. Really split between these two spots. Loved them both. Just can't decide, so I'm resorting to gathering other people's opinions.

Which place do people think is better to live, or where a guy with my interests might be happier? Which has a better dating scene? Also, this is somewhat of a weird question, but I'm from LA originally where there's a heavy asian presence, wondering also which city has a more noticeable asian population or at least better japanese/korean food which is a staple for me.

Given your description and age, I would say that Orlando might be a better fit. St Petersburg's DT is getting a bit weird from a social sense not a business sense.

Can you elaborate on that?

Orlando if you want the Asian diversity. St Pete does not have that. Good luck...
