How about Bartow or Auburndale? Bartow has a nice little downtown and older homes.

I'll check them out, thanks! Some preliminary online searches show some promise in Auburndale more so.

I don't understand it but you are correct about Winter Haven. I guess all the lakes really push up home values. I would add Ocala to the list and second Sebring, Lake Placid and Bartow.

So no Winston-Salem?

I don't think so unfortunately. Between seasonal allergies and chronic bronchitis what little chilly weather we have here (along those with temperature fluctuations) is bad enough as is. If anything I should probably look further south.

I'm sorry to hear this, Kyle. Good luck wherever you end up!

I'm really surprised that you found something in Auburndale matching your criteria under 150k unless you are including the Inwood area in your search.

Hawthorne has some affordable real estate. Kind of isolated but not that far from Gainesville.

I gotta be honest...the only places I would consider that you've linked above are Statesboro, GA and Aiken, SC. Unless you have family in any of the other cities, they're basically crime ridden holes. An added bonus: both cities have Publix's (if you care). Well, Statesboro's is under construction.

Although I may consider a nod to the Waycross and Bainbridge, GA homes....
