I currently live in Lake Mary near Orlando but in the next year or so want to relocate to a similar town with more affordable real estate. The old section of town I prefer has what I would call 1950s-1960s Florida-style ranch houses or bungalows I suppose. The worst of them which are probably rentals according to Zillow would sell for around 250K which is kind of ridiculous. I'm looking to be under 150K for a smaller 2/2 or 3/1 preferably near a lake. I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere either which I realize may put me into GA or SC in the end but thought I would reach out to see if anyone could think of similar here in-state. Here are some examples for reference..

I was thinking perhaps older sections of Winter Haven or St Augustine..??

Melbourne? Older homes in Brevard County?

Lake Placid or Sebring can get you in that price range easily, with tons of lakes.

Sections of South Jacksonville off of San Jose Blvd, St. Augustine Rd & Hendricks Ave have loads of these.

I would check Winter Haven. As you know, lots of lakes, and I love the little downtown area. Plus, it's easy driving distance to other cities and towns. Not sure about prices, haven't checked into that. Good luck!

Agreed.

Although compared to Lake Mary, you may be bored out of your mind. And not sure how “liberal” it is...

Melbourne was an initial thought but didn't have the charm factor and just seems more bedroom community suburban. Titusville, Cocoa and Merritt Island were the only other options within price, but in rundown fashion.

I'm sure it can but it would be a hard pass for a few reasons.

Miramar and San Jose are pretty close to perfect and on my short list now, thanks!

It fits character-wise but the type of home I need/want would be around 250K there.
