Being a Floridian, I thought the report last night on 60 minutes was pretty accurate.

The rich were able to get shots before most of us.
The rich and famous and people on vacation did fly in and get their shots before most of us...until us low lifes protested and Desantis did add being Florida resident as a criteria.

Owners of Publix did give big donations to his reelection as did many of the richer 55+ plus communities and neigborhoods of million $ houses with CEOs from all over getting their shots before most of us. BTW I am part of Publix families who do have stock in the company and saying that they were chosen because they are a Florida company with roots? What about Winn Dixie? It has them too, but they didn't get the vaccine until late March.

He reported that Palm Beach got the first vaccines because they were ready and could accommodate but West Palm where regular working class and minorities mostly live received none of the vaccine even though they were up and ready, too.

The poorer areas near the Everglades stopped getting any vaccines when Publix became the main distributor even though the closest Publix was 25 miles away. The county sites closed. Most of the people are minorities, many older had no access to cars, computers, or cell phones to get appointments but were also getting sick and dying of covid.

We cannot deny that the vaccine distribution in Florida was rocky. What we can say is it has gotten better in the last few weeks and many of his early misgivings have been corrected with the help of the Federal government adding to the distribution.
None of what you just said is true. Facts don't back it up. You have no clue what is going on. I would guess you would also deny there is a crisis at the border of sex crimes against children, kids crammed into pods by the hundreds, kids abandoned in the deserts. Did it ever occur to you also that many people don't want a vaccine that has not been completely vetted nor is it free of serious side affects. Also if the vaccine hurts you, you assume all the liablility.

3 Million saw it; 100 Million did not, but, like me, are now totally informed.
60 Minutes may as well have campaigned for The Republicans.

Really? I did not know that. I never watch it, but I did see it on YouTube because of all the hype on TV about it.

Well the local news said that a certain senior retirement community was calling the rich people who donated to them to see if they wanted the shot. And one lady interviewed declined it and maybe she is the one who reported it to the local news people.

I would like to know if those cited by 60 Minutes as having connections to Publix did or did not make the substantial contributions to DeSantis on or about the time the decision was being made to award Publix with the contracts to supply the vaccine.

Isn't that the important question?

No, not important at all, as the decision/recommendation to use Publix did not come from DeSantis nor his team, but actually from Democrats.

Publix also is a great place to distribute it, given how many locations there are and they all have pharmacies and give flu shots as well. So basically they are set up for it. Most have pretty large parking lots also, so can handle the additional people.

A popular grocery store that gives out flu shots and has a pharmacy, and has numerous locations, now gets to give the covid vaccine, is hardly note worthy or a conspiracy, I would actually expect Publix to be giving it out.

Where is the description of who awarded the contract to Publix discussed or documented? And why would CVS or Walgreen's with more outlets not be a better choice than Publix?

Please explain why large donations to one party concurrent with such a decision to award contracts would not be pertinent.

CVS and Walgreens ARE, and have been giving out covid vaccinations, along with the county health departments, and at least
one large physician management group ( Millennium Physician Group), and the Winn Dixie stores with pharmacies have started doing this as well. There is no exclusive contract with any one organization to provide those services. This is not California.

The only "relevance" to donations to a political party come from what passes for the minds of left wing democrat hacks scratching around to find anything they can manufacture to discredit a GOP governor.

Only in the minds of those out to discredit DeSantis. The important issue was, and remains, getting the vaccine out as quickly, and efficiently as possible to those eligible to get it, and who want it.

Baptist Health — which operates hospitals in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Monroe counties — has a partnership with the Medical Center at Ocean Reef.

Baptist Health also has close ties to the Ocean Reef community. Baptist Health CEO Brian Keeley and his wife own a home in Ocean Reef, according to Monroe County property records. At least eight members of Baptist Health South Florida’s board or the board of its affiliated foundation live in Ocean Reef or have business or philanthropic ties to the wealthy enclave."

You're bolding a pretty significant spin. Here's another one for ya. Exact same quote, different bolds:

At first Publix got most of the vaccines. They are still getting a large quantity compared to other places.

You won't find a Publix in low income areas, that's a fact so yes the vaccines were not evenly distributed.

If you want an appointment with Publix you better wake up early if you live in South Florida, Tampa or Orlando because your window is only like 1 hour (7-8 am Monday, Wed, Friday). Pensacola and Jax usually have all day to book their appointments.

I got my vaccine through FEMA in a popup location.

CVS and Walgreens have been giving out the vaccine, Publix is an expansion of the vaccine effort, and a natural and obvious one at that, given their locations and abilities to do it.

Not pertinent because the donation has zero to do with the expansion of the vaccination efforts, especially given the suggestion that Publix start giving it out did not come from DeSantis and people in his administration, but from Democrats.

https://www.flgov.com/wp-content/upl...yor-Kerner.pdf

Dave Kerner is the Mayor of the county, and a Democrat. The Publix idea came from him/his administration and efforts, DeSantis liked the idea.

The 60 Minutes report is more than false, it is an outright intentional lie. My theory is that these lies will increase because of the talk of DeSantis being a 2024 presidential candidate.
