So you went from Stockton to Fresno? Kind of strange since the population of Lakeland is 100k around 1/5 of the Fresno population, so let's find two cities that are closer in size, Like Fresno V Tampa!

The population of Fresno is 526,000 median home price of a Fresno home in June 2022 was $383,750. The population of Tampa is 395,912 and the median home price in Tampa in June 2022 was $435,000

Anecdotally, I have several new neighbors from California. None have even talked about returning.

My neighbors (2) from NorCal have their homes on the market and are going back to the Bay Area due to weather, jobs requiring them being back in office, and they also complained about public school quality and lack of routes at TPA and bugs.

Everything from taxes, to health insurance, to home prices, to regulations are cheaper in Florida than in the majority of states.
Clearly your critical thought process has rusted out and/or attended FL public schools. Cheaper prices do not equate to a cheaper bottom line without assessment/comparison of salaries and other cost of living factors.

If my two bedroom that rents for $2000 in Orlando is tied to an average salary of 32K while the average in the SF Bay area is around 40K with two bedroom rent at $2500, even with CA state income tax I'm at or below net earnings versus rent in Orlando. https://www.apartments.com/apartment...25x45O0wk_y68F

Speaking of Orlando, today my friend who lives in Winter Garden told me she can't find a 2-bedroom for less than $2600 a month. So she is parking an RV in her parents' driveway and going to live in it with her two kids. The national affordability crisis strikes again. When you have middle class Americans with stable good jobs turning to RVs for permanent housing, you have a serious problem.

This is not a problem created by Biden, or Trump. When was the last time that wages kept up with inflation? The 1970s? The median home price in 1950 was 2.2 times the average annual income; by 2020, it was six times average annual income. Child care costs grew by about 2,000 percent between 1972 and 2007. Family premiums for employer-based health insurance jumped by 47 percent between 2011 and 2021, and deductibles and out-of-pocket costs shot up by almost 70 percent. The average price for brand-name drugs on Medicare Part D rose by 236 percent between 2009 and 2018. Between 1980 and 2018, the average cost of an undergraduate education rose by 169 percent.

America is no longer affordable for many. And many are leaving not just California and Florida but the country altogether.

So you went from Lakeland to Tampa...geez...why not go right to Jupiter Island?

Cali's cost of living is much higher than FLA's, and any sane person knows it. Not even close.

Are there isloated zip codes in FLA that are higher than some Cali Zips codes...sure.

I picked a City in each state with equivalent populations. You initially tried to compare Lakeland with Stockton which has 3 times as many people as Lakeland. Then you decide to compare Lakeland with Fresno which has 5 times as many people. I merely listed two cities neither of which are major metro areas in each state with similar populations; Tampa and Fresno but you don't like the results so you are here whining?

Sadly your use of logic is lost in this instance. Trust me, save your time/energy.
