Ron DeSantis Signs Measure Outlawing Protests Outside of Floridians’ Homes: Sending ‘Unruly Mobs’ Is ‘Inappropriate’

DeSantis signed HB 1571, which explicitly prohibits picketing and protesting outside of an individual’s place of residence.

“It is unlawful for a person to picket or protest before or about the dwelling of any person with the intent to harass or disturb that person in his or her dwelling,” the bill’s text reads.

Like most decisions DeSantis makes this one is unConstitutional, depends on a qualitative word (INTENT) to determine legal/illegal protests…
A peaceful picket is not an unruly mob—
If he wanted to know the difference watch videos of the Jan 6 mob storming the Capital and the march on Washington when Black leaders and others spoke…

DeSantis is a very dangerous man — more so than Trump because he is smarter

You left off the most important part of the bill—the INTENT of those doing the picketing

Just like the GOP is trying to claim the Jan 6 mob were peaceful protestors which is evidently untrue you have a skewed vision of PROTEST vs COUP

..and yet, somehow you think there's a way for a mob to protest outside someone's home....and not "harass or disturb that person in his or her dwelling."

but please keep reminding everyone of the libs one and only claim to fame....Jan 6
...because it just reminds everyone of the thousands and thousands of liberals claim to fame

But if you hang the nazi flag from a flagpole on your house's front lawn, I'm not allowed to protest that on the sidewalk outside your house?

This is an arbitrary law, much like many other arbitrary laws, created exclusively to pander to desantis's base, trigger hatred and division, and launch the alt-right further into the stratosphere of authoritarianism and government overreach.

Republicans USED to be a minimal-government party. Now they are becoming a party that strips its people of its freedom - in the name of freedom.
It's amazing how many mouth breathers just jump on anything DeSantis does... they aren't even real republicans.

No, I mentioned intent in several posts. Intent is not content. SCOTUS ruled that such restrictions are constitutional if they are content-neutral and said nothing about intent-neutral. If the intent is to disrupt and harass, the content is irrelevant. The bill will stand. I have no doubt that some lower court liberal judge will block it but ultimately it will be upheld.

Interesting comment.
Could you explain what a "real Republican" is and maybe name a notable politician that you would deem as a "real Republican"?

Actually, I see it as a good thing for both parties. For example in my county a state representative(republican BTW) got into a tizzy fight on the internet and in person about the mask mandate in our county. This rep pretty much published the address of the board member and urged people to protest at her house. Once you urge a protest it is hard to control the amount of hate or violence thrown at what you protest. He pretty much threatened the school board member with harm; but court disallowed it and he did not get reprimanded even though he probably should have been. His actions and the protestors frightened her children. The neighborhood was inconvenienced for weeks. Good people of all parties could become afraid to run for office in fear of protestors showing up at their homes and not run just to protect their families and their neighborhoods.
This law does not stop your right to voice your opinion or to protest; but limits where it can be done. In this case protesting outside the school board offices would have been a better choice.
