I depend on these "snowbirds" to pay for my house down there until we can move there full time in 3 years.
Until then we are "Fallbirds and Springbirds"

I have found these Snowbirds to pay well for the privilege of enjoying Florida's best time of year. We have had zero problems....they have been great guests of our property.

When that "big move" time comes we do not plan on having two houses and returning up north regularly.....we'll commit 100% to Florida.

If I had the choice, I would rather be a SUMMERBIRD than a full time resident. As much as I don't like the hot summers in Florida, I dislike winter in Florida even more. I would rather go North in the winter. If I have to be here at all, be it in the summer.

Is there such as thing as a SUMMERBIRD?

My dad has lived on both coasts at various points over the past 12 years - his view is that the snowbirds on the east coast are more from the north east, and the snow birds on the west coast are more from the midwest. He also says snowbird season starts earlier and ends later on the west coast.

i dont knwo what is worse though.. winter we have every snowbird crowding the streets... and every summer... you can't bump into anyone at theme parks that can speak english.

i like fall time the best here... seems like the only true floridian time of the year :-) although most people i know that live in florida.. weren't actually born here LOL

That is true,Atlantic coast gets more north easterners,Gulf coast gets more midwesterners(with the exception of the Panhandle which get more folk from places like Texas,Louisiana, and Tennessee).

With all the natural disasters in the Midwest I hope that Midwesterners will be able to join the "Snowbird Season." They sure deserve a break from it all.

Your story reminded me of my grandson.. We were driving into the Flea Market which was packed with cars with out of state license plates. My DH said 'Looks like the snowbirds are here'. From the backseat we hear "Look here comes 2 more' Turning around I saw he was pointing out the window at 2 seagulls.
