Isn't it hillarious that the Libs opened up the Southern border to get more future votes, and now Latino's are breaking Right? Open borders now favor Pubs...but at least screen to keep the criminals out.
It's called humanitarianism, something I know is not in the GOP's every day vocabulary. Ever consider what could be so bad that you're wiilling to gamble everything with a few possesions to trek hundred of miles with no certainty you'll get through the "open border"? 0f course in full GOP hypocrisy-fashion now being all in for more votes makes it A-okay after all? Truly pathetic, almost as much as gerrymandering and closing precincts in poor, predominately Democratic areas.

There is a long long way to go.

Thank you for a well-worded & succinct reply that cuts to the heart of the reality of the situation.

The New York Post can ALWAYS be counted upon to bring forward stories that are contrarian or outrageous or critical of New York because it sells copy.

As for Florida, nothing it offers can top the one and only BIG APPLE!

Beyond that, as goes the "nexus" factor, there's a lineup of other states in front of Florida for that title.
Thinking otherwise is just laughable!

The migration patterns follow the highways.

I-95 from Maine to Florida. Eastern Migration

I-75 from Midwest to Florida. Western Migration. (Migrating Americans don't stay on I-75 past Naples so they are western migrants.)

This!

There should be a large illuminated sign on I-95 S and I-75 S with the above message, and then a U-turn ramp with road spikes.

I'm in SWFL. Many more now from places like NY, MA, NJ, PA, CT and such than there are from the midwest or upper south.

Especially during season the Northeast way outnumbers the midwest and other locations around there.

NY, NJ, MA have taken over SWFL.

Florida will beat NY in state population forevermore, but it won't be a "nexus" unless/until:

1) You can shake that whole "Florida man" repuation

2) Get your politics in order. You are a purple state that somewhat accurately reflects the American average, not some far right "utopia". Challenging Disney was one thing (though probably not too wise and a "shoot yourself in the foot" and "bite the hand that feeds you" action), but being the ONLY state to not offer COVID vaccines to young kids (note this is different than MANDATING them) is not a good look.

I guess you do have Disney - although most of Disney is in California (LA and SF) and I'm pretty sure they won't be moving more of their operation down to Florida given the recent government policies.

The only one I can think of is Fischer investments in Tampa and they have a sub par staff at that office.
We don't need any of them, so long as New Yorker's keep bringing Billions into our state each year!

https://nypost.com/2022/06/06/ny-cal...ax-states-irs/

NY lost $19.5 BILLION in taxable revenue, while Florida gained $23.7B.

Florida's Bond fund rating is AAA and New Yorks is not....another win for "The Big Orange"

Florida's colleges overall are ranked higher by US News & World Report too.

Miami's becoming the Wall Street of the South

Florida's state finances are much better than New York's. How many Florida car tags are you seeing up there in New York anyways?

Florida's population eclipsed New Yorks for a reason, & New York is now looking up at Florida. Maybe it was Florida's superior response to Covid, & not sticking covid positive patients into nursing homes like NY did.
Florida's model is in good position to fuel growth now but it needs to learn how to evolve to STAY growing and on top (it's not quite there yet imo but getting close).

NYC never evolved and relied too much on foreign and trust fund money to prop up everything while pumping out nonsense, low quality "wE'rE dUh GrEaTeSt CiTy N dUh WoRlD" propaganda that had been about 10-15 years outdated in 2020.

In other words, one can't be too comfortable to stay on top. Florida has a good model for where it's at now, but it will have to figure some things out as it continues to grow.

I just moved from FL to Rochester, NY so I'm curious about your statement above - do you find that Rochester stands apart from the rest of NY state?

I'm seeing FL plates every time I'm out driving around which has surprised me. I'm sure I won't see as many in the winter.

The sentiment I hear most often from non FL residents about the state is "nice place to vacation, not a place I'd want to live." So far the topic that comes up most frequently when I'm meeting people here in NY and tell them I just moved here from FL - weather.

Until very recently it was generally understood that the vast majority of people who choose to relocate to FL do so for the winter weather. In the past couple years I've noticed a trend that some hyper-political people are promoting the theory that now most people moving to FL are doing so for political reasons, and that FL is becoming THE place to be, the center of the universe.
