In the article, the data states that there has been a net positive flow of 280,000 New York residents that have relocated to Florida from 2010 to 2020. I thought the number was much higher than this. I was wondering if those who have been in Florida in the last 10 years can attest that number to be actually higher, and what other states are in the running with New York having the highest net positive residents from other states.

Florida is the nexus of the United States? Maybe if they ever get a labor or talent pool that would make it worthwhile for any top corporation, elite higher education institute, high tech employer or creative incubator to want to move there.
There is a long long way to go.

Maybe a Nexus for New Yorkers, not the whole US.

Indeed there is a long way to go, but things seem to be moving in the right direction by fits and starts. Florida obviously needs to foster a diverse economy not centered too heavily around tourism and real estate.

Florida doesn't need any of that...affluent New Yorkers leave their home state, and bring Billions into Florida, and that is all we need.

Florida's colleges overall are ranked higher by US News & World Report too.

Miami's becoming the Wall Street of the South

Florida's state finances are much better than New York's. How many Florida car tags are you seeing up there in New York anyways?

Florida's population eclipsed New Yorks for a reason, & New York is now looking up at Florida. Maybe it was Florida's superior response to Covid, & not sticking covid positive patients into nursing homes like NY did.

Burn!!!

The way democratic states handled Covid was a disaster and disgrace to our country. As long as Florida stays red we will be alright.

Then how come not a single large financial institution, corporate or online retailer, pharmaceutical, insurance company, high tech on the Nasdaq, influential and profitable fashion house, consumer products giant, or pretty much any powerhouse company has made Florida a primary or even secondary headquarters. Yeah there are small outposts and boutique companies, but no one is making the large investment and move to the state.
I guess you do have Disney - although most of Disney is in California (LA and SF) and I'm pretty sure they won't be moving more of their operation down to Florida given the recent government policies.

The only one I can think of is Fischer investments in Tampa and they have a sub par staff at that office.

I just hope it does stay red... with the influx of people from NY, Illinois, California, etc there's a good chance it may turn purple.

FL has historically been a purple state. They voted for Obama twice.

More registered Pubs than Dems now, so the trend line looks good.

Add to that the Latino's recent move to the right, & we should be good for a while.

Isn't it hillarious that the Libs opened up the Southern border to get more future votes, and now Latino's are breaking Right? Open borders now favor Pubs...but at least screen to keep the criminals out.
