LA gets way more action than FL. THAT PART OF THE GULF BART gets all the action while my part of FL never gets anything.

Unfortunately, Florida and hurricane proof are mutually exclusive. In other words it doesn't exist. If peace of mind is required, I strongly suggest you not only leave Florida but avoid coastal areas in general especially in the southeastern U.S.

Nowhere in FL is hurricane proof.

People who suggested southern cities north of FL, just remember those places have tornado, which is even more frightening to me because you get almost no warning and the wind is way more violent (200 mph or more) so your house is pretty much guaranteed to be blown up if it’s a direct hit. You might survive if you manage to take shelter in an underground tornado shelter but your house won’t.

Not exclusively true. FL has had 66 tornadoes in 2022 while Georgia and South Carolina have had less than 30.

Maybe the Carolinas are for you.

Lots of folks retire and move to Florida... except Floridians, we retire and move to the Carolinas.
